What's your recommendation for a full HD plasma set (for not much more than this)?
#5
Superb price for a Panasonic Plasma, Unless you are sitting closer than 6ft FullHD is not needed for a screen this size.
#6
Astonishing value. And no, you can't get a full HD 42" plasma, especially a quality Panasonic one, for anything like this price.

Just watch the reflections on this model. One of the cutbacks on this model is a lack of anti-reflective coating.

Don't know about buying from Dixons though......................

The bro' has a 42" Panasonic Viera plasma for the last 3yrs, and its picture is STILL stunning, despite being an old model.

His isn't FULL HD either.

Why not? Plasma is much more natural on TV pictures than LCD or do you prefer a large computer monitor for games etc?
Superb price for a great TV. Hot

100,000 hours on a Panasonic Plasma (more than 11 years)

Nothing wrong with Plasma at all, massive contrast levels, longer lifespan, smoother picture and usually better value for money

That leaves you with LCD then, which is vastly inferior still today, even with LED backlighting.

Does anyone know where this falls in the Panasonic range? In comparison to the also HD Ready X20 for instance. I can't find any reviews on this particular model unfortunately.
#19
Isnt the point about Plasma that they use heap more electricty and thus are less environmentally friendly and cost more to run?
#20
My Panasonic has an anti-glare layer but I still get reflections so there's absolutely no chance I'd be forking out £350 for this without first seeing it in position in my lounge (or where ever it's going) to check the glare.

Equivalent to a single light-bulb's worth of electricity more than same size LCD.

Incredible price. My 42' Panny (PX60 - 42B I think) was £1,400 before the World Cup in 2006, at the time it was £1800 in JL. It is very good and I don't think that it will be replaced soon. The reason why I would change it is due to the energy consumption. I am not sure what the difference would be but over a few years it may make a difference?

This is 1 below the X20, the main difference the X20 has the glare filtering so it won't reflect as much if near a window but I wouldn't recommend putting it by a window anyway. Usually the sound isn't as good with the C but I haven't seen this model as its fairly new

As far as I know Dixons is only web based now!

Not true. Panasonic plasma do not use 'heaps more electricity'. A 42" uses about 260W max. which is no more than some other branded LCD's, they also use only 0.1W on standby

More like 20w. The energy ratings are maximal - a plasma's consumption varies wildly for bright/dark scenes. LCDs don't because the backlight is always on.

A plasma's average consumption's still higher than LCD but compares alot more favourably.

Silly question but is it 1080p???

please dont turn this into a plasma v lcd debate.....go and see the image a tv produces, somewhere, if you can and then decide if you like it. it really does come down to personal taste when you are at the high end tv of either sort. some people see an lcd and think the image is carboardy, others the most beautiful thing in the world!! it really is in the eye of the beholder with no right or wrong...
there, said it.
v good price, by the way!! (and i've got a lcd!!!)

Showrooms are usually brightly lit and that is a big no-no for plasmas. They look washed out and just plain awful. Put one in your house next to an LCD and compare the two.
