Thanks for your post :) I've added a price and a retailer name to your title, it's useful to always include these details in the title when posting deals.

NICE PRICE. NICE TV

Fantastic TV - I've owned one for two-weeks', now - but I suggest getting John Lewis to price match this deal and get their five-year warranty instead of the one-year that comes with this offer. That's what I did and I ended up paying only £599.00 in the end. Their customer service is superb.

I thought with John Lewis that they take into account the warranty price of the other company before they price match.

So if Currys 5 year warranty is £200 and John Lewis selling tv for £899 with five year warranty they would reduce price down to cover Currys warranty and TV price so macthing Currys price.

Not in my experience in the past. I got a tv, free dvd recorder and 5 year warranty off them on a price match for the tv "not the deal"

Larry is wrong.

I got John Lewis to price match PC World - who only offer a one-year warranty - and they gladly matched the price and gave me the five-year warranty. All JL TVs come with five-year warranties as standard.

As I previously stated, I got this TV from JL for £599.00 with a five-year warranty.

Go onto JL's website. Find the price match page. Email them the details for price match. They will email back within a couple of hours and give you a code - if they decide to price match. Order TV over the phone and supply the code. Simple.

I thought they were price matching at £699 the other week.

This is from an email I had from John Lewis regarding price match
"When you submitted your request on March 1st, the information regarding comparable warranty conditions would have been correct. Our new policy did not begin until March 7th.
If you find a lower price with another competitor in future, please feel free to submit a new price match request. Warranties no longer need to be identical to be approved for a price match. "
#12
Paperboy2, you're correct, they were matching at £699.00 the other week but, due to an error on JL's part, they ended up knocking another £100.00 off. Bonus!

Vectis, thank you for your post supporting my previous comments.

Great result.
A price match now at £649 would still be hot.

I've had this TV for a week now & TBH find the picture a little soft compared to my 37" LCD...I am watching SKY HD and the football just ain't as sharp
Maybe this is just a plasma thing?

Its been out of stock for two weeks or more at John Lewis
and I dont think their getting anymore, so no price match.
#17
I got this price matched with PCW from JL too just about 3 weeks ago! Ended up paying £699. Great TV at that price. I'm glad I opted for it back then as I think JL will not be stocking this anymore, opting to sell the GT series instead.

buuuuuuuurilliant.

Heat added.

It was in stock this morning at JL and I did send a pricematch request via email. No reply as yet and now it is showing as out of stock...Gutted.

It is a lot sharper on plasma and this is a great TV..i have the 42 inch version! May i suggest you put the picture mode to THX on practically everything bar a Wii (game mode best for that via HD component) and you will unleash the power of your TV! I have or have had a PS3/Xbox 360, SKY HD/Virgin HD box, Blu Ray player, Micro PC via HDMI and Wii connection is the only one that is not outstanding on THX mode. Normal or a non configured Professional mode don't do TV favours...i'm lazy so THX is best without loads of fiddling (nearest to perfect TV can get without custom settings)

Do JL match prices obtained using a voucher code?
#23
After having one for 14 months has a green line on the screen, suggest John lewis with 5 yrs warrantee for free
#24
Hi, I have bought this one 2 weeks ago from JL for £699 with price match (£200 refunded after delivery). I know JL price match works up to 28 days after sale, but can I ask for price match one more time if price gone down now...?

You wouldn't be able to PM me this e-mail would you ? I purchased a TV in February, and I believe their policy is if you find it cheaper within x days. There was an offer at PCW for the same TV but with an additonal blu ray player and sourround system - which when I asked for a price match they quoted the difference in warranty.

Annoyed if I missed out because of a few days.

Cheers

Plasma isn't meant to be as sharp as LCD - it is supposed to give a more natural look like CRT, so no matter how you adjust it they can't be made to look like an LCD ... it just aint gonna happen.

How can they pricematch something that they don't have in stock?? Unless your local store has it of course it may be pretty useless ...

Yep they quickly changed their new policy back roughly to how it had been previously after some bad press ... in fact this new policy should be a bit more clear and easier as before it was hit and miss as to what they would agree to.

For all those debating John Lewis price matching.
This tv has been out of stock for about 2 weeks now since they discontinued the model.
They have no more on the way.
i had a lengthy conversation with their customer service and price match department after they refused my price match with pc world.

Just got mine today......wow, what a set.
No buzz and the Blu-ray image is superb (my 1st video was the 'Vulcan Effect', simply awesome), such a lot of TV for the money......and with a 1tb hard drive you get live pause and recording.

Time to say bye bye to Sky HD+ & their outrageous prices.

(and I'd just point out that the 'Vulcan Effect' is a 1080i/50 Blu-ray video, not one sign of the 50Hz issue some have mentioned in the avforums I'm glad to say)

Same as me Fireman1, JL had taken the listing off the Web as well but notice it is back on there all be it with no stock, but maybe one or two sets became available again I dont know, but at this present time with stock gradually going down everywhere this is the best deal.
From here you can keep up todate http://www.properprice.co.uk/panasonic-tx-p50g20b-or-txp50g20b-22950.html?kw=GA47208&gclid=CJLR9cTRhagCFUFC4QodUUTfpw

I've had this tv for 2 weeks now and have found the picture has stabilised nicely.
I use 'normal' mode usually, and it's magnificent.
Spoke to the guy at the Panasonic store in Chester just after I bought it asking about 'run-in' for 100 hours. He reckoned the Panny plasmas have never needed this and should be used normally (i.e. with all channel logos etc) from day 1.
Sound is a little weak, so I hooked up a Logic3 soundstation bar and listened to it take off!
Nice set, amazing price.

I would be very interested to know if JL have had more stock in the last few days after what they told me at customer services!!

They informed me on a previous occasion that they will price match only once & only with the given retailer at the time , you can't have a 2nd bite of the apple especially with another retailer .

I wonder what he would say if you returned 2 weeks later with a logo burnt on the screen ?

I know exactly what he would say .

i've been shopping for a new tv since jan, keep missing out on the best deals tbh tried to get jl to pm the sony 40ex503 from somewhere or other and the 37ex403 from Richer sounds - on both occasions they refused as wasn't a comparable tv with 5yr warranty. Both occasions were over the phone with 'telesales' however and i'd love to be proved wron and that the 'old' policy of 5yr g'tee regardless is back in place.
