You've definitely got a claim agains Dixons and/or Panasonic for this. I would print out a copy of the relevant section of the sale of goods act and go along to the store you bought it from and have a word with the manager :D

in term of features this is a beast, the drab design though lets it down somewhat

for £649, I'd be surprised if it doesnt get 500 heat +

STUNNING!

Would trade in for my X10 anyday. Anyday my missus wouldn't notice of course...
#17
This or Samsung 3d ps50c580?
#18
Hot.

Amazon will reduce the price to match i guess, since they have stock.

Also does anyone know if Panasonic will run 5 years free warrantee from 1st April as they did for the few last years?

Yep of course it is mavs - very good tv for the price.

Remember Panasonics 2011 models are coming onto market right now - but will carry a price premium of £300+ on this relevant model (G30) so you may pick up a bargain as long as you don't have to have the latest and greatest ...

Also worth noting that if 50" is too big then the 42" V20 (which is Panasonics top end 2010 2d model) is available for £699.

does it have freeview HD ? some reviews say it does, i know it as Free sat HD

I am pretty sure there are 2 version - 1 with freeSAT HD and one freeVIEW HD - so this looks to be the freesat only on the Dixons site.

EDIT - I may be talking crap ---- thinking about the DVD recorderd with FREESAT HD and FREEVIEW HD - Amazon has exactly the same model number and claims it has both

No have tried price matching with JL, Dixons dont have any stores anymore and they only price match against High Street Stores.

John Lewis seem to have a strange and perhaps confusing price matching policy... they wouldn't price match a high street deal for me (strangely enough on a Panasonic P42G20B)... because although the product was available instore with the retailer in question, the product was not offered online by the retailer and therefore for that reason John Lewis would not price match... very confusing...

So, am I right to assume that (for JL to price match something) the item must be available with a high street retailer who also has the offer available to online customers???

P.S. I might be straying off the path a bit, so I better add that I voted hot because I think you have spotted a Hot Deal!

I think we may see more deals from Sony/Panasonic and other Japanese owned companies soon to boost the sale when the value of the Japanese economy goes down with curent issues in Japan.
very good price I'm very tempted... tell me I don't need one.... I am expecting baby soon :)

Is approx 9ft viewing distance too close for this size tv?
#31
Had this a 5yr warranty, I would advise snapping it up immediately!

Its still a mega bargain, but for such a big purchase it would be worthwhile trying to get a better warranty via pricematch with JL, Richersounds (+10%), or M&S (if they sell it).

problem with this model -

buzzing

so loud from back of TV cant really watch in a night time due to buzz

according to Panasonic - its normal and standard ( LG and Samsung dont buzz and a screen size its also 42 or 50)

minimum 3 years warranty its a MUST

you'll find theres a problem with most TVs out there

my current Sony has edge lighting problems, this buzzes, Samsung's have poor build quality etc etc

if you nit-pick you'll spend forever looking for a new TV

like many i would dive in of i could either get amazon to match, or someone to give a g'tee

I bought this a few months ago for £850 and would recommend highly. Not noticed any buzzing with external surround sound set up. Awesome tv

Constructive review
I had one of these Panny's for 2 weeks, sadly I had to return as the negatives outweighed the pluses.
I originally saw this TV lined up against a Samsung & Sony, all displaying a HD soccer games. All looked good displaying play on the pitch, however at half time during the close up pundit interviews the Panny definition was yards ahead of the others, facial stuble and facial blemishes all captured and reproduced, on the other TV's these were defocussed and unclear. That sold it for me. Once I got the beast home I was able to give a more critical appraisal. My comparisons are based upon the TV it replaced a 42 Sharp Aquos.
1. The TV was a wiz to install, you just switch on, enter a postcode and it seeks all Sat/Digi/analogue channels.
2. The audio lacked of bass, increasing the setting would simply 'bottom' the speaker, not a problem if you have a sound bar, or home cinema. A neutral here
3. A fully 'white' screen would appear grey and not as bright as you would on a LCD, however at the other end of the scale, black was black. So a neutral on this.
4. On moderate movement of people or objects from right to left of the screen, there was an anoying shimmering shadow behind the moving object, something I never saw on the Sharp. A negative
5. On a fully blank screen (black) i.e BluRay input between disc/display, the black screen displayed speckles of coloured noise, I tried differing HDMI leads, but was also seen on the digital TV channels (looked at another Panny and did not see this) so possibly a fault on this tv.
It was a great shame I had to return this, but that's life......

Hope you find this litle review usefull

HOT DEAL - this is a cracking piece of kit. Picture quality is outstanding and worth spending a bit more than the regular price of around £500 for a 50" at the moment.

Have some heat from me :{
