Had my 42" plasma Panasonic for almost 3 years now and love it.

Do they still give a 5 year warranty on all their TV's?

U10 ...... full hd but not the best panel, these float around this price often.... not for me, but thanks for posting

Yep, I ordered this set only this morning courtesy of the top thread on your list(this forum could sure do with more thread merging).

Don't forget you'll also get a tenner back for each goal England score in their world cup campaign(provided you register which I'm about to do now:)).

[EDIT]Oh, and don't count on the quidco, lately nearly every code I've used that hasn't been an official quidco one, has meant my quidco earnings being declined, still a good offer without of course.

Is that a Currys only offer or does it apply to Dixons too, I know they are the same company but I cant see it mentioned on the Dixons website.

Also is this offer available in store?

I bought this from curry a few days ago, cost me £607 after codes. A little upset now. But at least I can still take advantage of the england goals cashback deal. That should bring me in a few quid which it wouldn't have done if I bought this (after codes)

Looks a good deal on paper-My reservations were the reflection (the one in Currys showroom reflected lighting and every other shiny object) and power consumption (400-500w according to a previous thread). If you can live with these then a great deal especially with tenner per England goal thrown in. A question about this-do own goals count?

I received this yesterday from currys. It's a really nice TV. It is a little reflective but not too bad to be honest. We have a lot of windows in the living room (including a skylight) and we just have to close a few of them if it's reflecting too much.

The picture is excellent. Noticeably better than my previous LG 42" 1080P set.

looks good to me. my 32 panny is quality at over 2 yrs old, not full hd but this is tempting tho dont have the room or funds. Thing is, is it 3D too?
#12
i dont think u can get the tenner per england goal if you use it with any other deal ?

Somebody in the currys thread claims they phoned and were told 'as long as the price is still above £599'. Mine came to £600.80 or similar using a code, so I'm hopeful I'll still get the goals promo. If not, it's not the end of the world. Oh, I got something along the lines of £22 Quidco too

It says so in their T&Cs.

I ordered a different TV from Currys a couple of days ago using a code and also signed up for the World Cup offer. However after reading on the net that it won't work with multiple offers, I phoned them up to clarify and they gave me a simple 'no' (it won't be valid with other offers). I checked the World Cup offers T&Cs and it also says so in there.

I'm guessing what they'll do is check the receipt for any other vouchers used, when you send it in with your certificate after the World Cup.

Maybe it'll work for you though, well I hope it does anyway .

Yes i believe it is 3d! the OP has forgot to mention that in the the title and so has Dixons when you go to deal and look at the spec. I believe it also has a solid gold remote control,a free tv stand and a rare DVD of Lord Lucan riding Shergar. ( think you have to send away for the DVD though ).

That does sound like a high power output, although is it very different from other 50" screens?

Re. the own goals, own goals of opposing teams do count, obviously not your own:-D So today for instance we'd have nabbed £20 courtesy of Japans own goals;-)

I'm really hoping that person is correct, certainly sounds right, after all the price still qualifies.

Sounds a bit concerning and a contradiction to the above, what was the price of the tv you bought after the codes though? Might have to call them myselves, although I rarely trust what I'm told unless I have it in writing(maybe send them an email).

One things for sure, if I had to choose I'd rather the "tenner for England goals" than the £40 from the code, potential to make a much bigger saving(even if there's no gaurantee of any:roll:).

:lol::lol: Great, you fool...I nearly choked on my wifes home made scone reading this reply...best laugh since seeing Lee Evans on the tele last night....LOL......my kind of sense of humour!!!:w00t: The Lord Lucan/Shergar gag was the choker. In Spitting Image years ago on TV I think Lord Lucan was the mysterious man lurking in the background in a lot of the sketch's but it was never made apparent who he was. Oh good tele deal by the way...

At this sort of price, the LG pk350 is a considerably better set. Much more accurate colour points, far better calibration controls, and no rising blacks either.

It's nice, but around £100 more from what I can see.

Been trying to find a contact email for currys as would like to have a reply on the code/ cash for goals question in writing, can only find phone numbers(which is little use if people are getting varied answers, I could be told what I wanted to hear, only to be told later I was ill informed), anyone have their contact email?
#23
According to Mr Google you could try these but I personally can't vouch for them, only the results from a search. Good luck.

Dixons are not offering the cash for goals, neither are PC world, its a Currys only promo

From "cashforgoals" FAQ:
I have purchased a TV on 'price match' that has reduced the price below £599; will this purchase still be valid?
Yes. The original price of the TV will appear on the receipt and so will be valid. Any other promotions or discounts that take the price below £599 will not qualify for this

Reading the above I see no reason why they would not honour the promo even if you used the "6may" code when buing TV as the price still stays above £599.99(£600.66 would be the total)

wrong thread, Dixons aren't offering this promo, ONLY CURRYS!

bought this set christmas time from john lewis
loads of problems with it and them (not the norm for panasionc sets) ended up refunding

in the end bought the next one up, with anti-glare from richer sounds - amazing viewing difference

my advice - have a look before jumping at this deal

Under £650 at a few places now (eg amazon). Dixons 647 + 3.5% quidco is probably the best, dunno if any codes there though.

Currys is 699, - 3.5% quidco (£24), and the cashforgoals thingy will be worth about £105 on average, according to the spreadbetting markets.

What would this telly be like for gaming please? ie ps3 xb360?
#31
i heard that the goals promo isnt all its cracked up to be. I think if you read the small print, it says the only goals that count are ones scored in the semi final or the final.. both of which england will probably not reach!
#32
You might as well get Richer Sounds to price match, had issues with Dixons in the past. Plus 5 year super care is very little extra and their service is excellent.

Gaming on this screen will be fine focux007, plasmas tend to handle fast movement better and image burn is really a thing of the past.

this is the terms

3.1The Cash Prize shall be calculated on the basis of £10 for each goal scored by the senior men’s England football team during competitive matches in South Africa between 12 June 2010 and 11 July 2010 excluding goals scored during any penalty shoot outs and any own goals scored by an England player.

Almost worth getting for the remote control alone given the price of gold has rocketed recently!!

Tim Howard was buying this very TV when I was in, plans to let a few in apparently to save himself a few quid.

Amazing, but image retention may be a problem. Typically it's not a problem for modern plasmas, but with certain games (Bad Company 2 for example) the HUD can be very harsh and you'll end up with an ammo counter stuck on your screen.

I have a 42" Panasonic and its a brand to recommend. Great value and quality sets.

One small critisism though, when you look at the TV guide, the sound on the channel you are viewing mutes and you also get an advert. I overcome this on mine though by watching TV through my Digihome tuner/recorder. I prefer the logic and features of the Digihome remote rather than the Panasonic one.

How much cheaper can Panasonics get? Big TV for the money.

As mentioned in craig-uk's post, own goals do not count.

Also Curry's and Dixons are effectively the same company, get it from a decent retailer like Richer Sounds. 5 Year Super Care is 10% of the purchase price and refundable if it isn't used.
