They are not original batteries, so won't work.

The price of this deal will be closer to £6, so the title should reflect that.

could someone fill me in on what these are please?

Combined with special software installed to a memory stick it will allow you to downgrade your PSP's firmware. You can then upgrade to a custom firmware and run homebrew or PSP games from memory stick. They can also be used to unbrick a firmware flash gone wrong.

Didn't know that, reading through some of the reviews though seems your right. You could always convert your original Sony battery into a pandora and use one of these cheap knockoffs as a replacement. Then again you can always just reverse the pandora process so there isn't much point in doing that.

Thanks:). I'd say its six and half a dozen. Neither process is very difficult. The hardest part for each is either making the Pandoras battery or finding an unpatched copy of GTA. If you just follow whichever tutorial you're using you can't really go wrong.

that is a datel battery it has the eprom chip in it unlike the sony fakes from dealextreme they lack that chip so you cant convert to a service mode battery

the feel of the dealextreme battery is softer it fits in the psp fine but the life span isnt as long as the original but it makes a good back battery:-D

I'd advise everyone NOT to buy the PSP batteries they sell on DE. I bought two that were supposed to be 3600mAh, and they both last HALF as long as the 1800mAh battery I have.
Total waste of money...

As for the pandora, if it actually works, then it's a great deal, but if their other batteries are anything to go by, this this is more likely to brick your PSP than anything else.

Apparently the 1800mAh batteries they sell (although fake) are pretty good. Not as good as an official unit but not far off and at a little over £3 delivered for use as a spare you can't really complain. I'd guess the 3600mAh batteries you bought are probably just the 1800mAh (or less) dressed up to look like a high capacity unit.

When someone receives one, we will find out for definite.
I don't see why it wouldn't work, but i'm a newbie to all this.

Stop nit picking about people being 25p out - with my nationwide credit card, would come to 5.25, so only 5% out. Try saying thanks for posting a good deal! (I say this because I ordered off them last week & the rate was 2 dead.)

You dont need to cut the wire with an official/datel battery!

LOL, a battery CAN NOT brick your PSP on it's own, FACT.
The fake Sony batteries DX sell could easily be made in to Pandora batteries as I am sure these ones have, all it takes is one very small internal modification.

They will be perfectly fine for using to unbrick/ downgrade etc ANY PSP and are a really good price, I am surprised that DX took so long to get these in stock tbh!

DX is an excellent site and I've shopped with them many times. Just wondering how this actually works...I mean where do you get the software on the memory stick from?

i've been interested in installing custom firmware on my slim & lite psp for a while.....is this the only item i would need to buy to get me on the way? i'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction on how to do it.

My psp is running v3.71

thanks in advance :)

Basically, you need two things: the pandora battery and a 'magic memory stick'
Combining the two will allow you to downgrade, then upgrade to the custom firmware
of your choice

A quick google search for 'pandora and magic memory stick downgrade tutorial' will give you a more detailed description on exactly what to do :)

Here's what i could find http://forums.qj.net/f-guides-hacks-homebrew-and-emulators-43/t-guide-unbrick-or-downgrade-any-psp-using-the-pandora-battery-118799.html

NOTE: Just remember to ignore the part about creating a pandora battery!

For the people curious about installing custom firmware (i.e. hacking their PSP to do lots of cool stuff) here are a couple of useful sites which have all the files and info you'll need.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-hacks.php
http://www.pspcrazy.com/index.php
And a little out of date now (no details on the Pandoras battery method) but still a good source of info for noobies..
http://www.psp-homebrew.eu/faq/index.php

Installing custom firmware on your PSP is well worth it and pretty easy .
#35
thanks for your help chaps :)

i am right in thinking i need 2 psp's to install the custom firmware?

£5.47 after conversion as of May 4th. So standard rounding makes it closer to £5.... you lose ;) hehe
