Manufacturer's Description
Run multiple versions of Windows, Linux and other operating systems side by side with Mac OS X without rebooting

Parallels Desktop is the first solution that enables Mac users to run Windows, Linux, and more simultaneously with critical Mac OS X applications on an Intel-powered iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, MacBook, or MacBook Pro "" without rebooting

Unlike Apple's Boot Camp dual-boot solution, in which users must completely shut down Mac OS X, Parallels Desktop allows the user to switch seamlessly between each OS and run Windows applications directly from the OS X desktop - Coherence mode.

Excellent. My son has just spent a fortune on a new Mac for Christmas, not realising that all his old PC software would not work. Had looked at this, but a bit pricy - up to now! Heat Added

hot (although i'm a vmware man myself)

should include a free downloadable update to latest and greatest version 4 too: http://www.parallels.com/support/pdfm4-upgrade-key/howto/

Been using this for about 3 weeks.
It is really really bad.

Mouse clicks are ignored, the windows randomly shake, keyboard presses are ignored.

Don't understand why people need XP on a MAC.

It's cheap because this is an old version. The current version is 4.0.

However, it's worth getting this and then the update as you save a couple of quid and get the extra software bundled. So voted hot for that. The upgrade price goes up by £7 in the new year.

For those who want to save even more money, there is a freeware alternative for Mac

Ideal for those of us who want to watch Sopcast, but I wouldn't want to use it for anything else. Good price

It's worth looking at CrossOver too:

The applications it supports are much more limited, but it's a lot faster than virtualisation with Parallels/VMWare.

Should be free with Mac OS tbh

Good price regardless
