All metal safety razor with chrome finish. Screw down blade change and substantial feel. Mach 3s give a good shave but traditional safety razors are anecdotally better with substantial cost savings in blades.
Also 8% TCB and Quidco.

You could try shaving with a pickaxe although i don't think it's recommended!

Wanted to try Double Edge blade shaving as I get fed up of the likes of Mach 3 etc... getting clogged up and being useless - also bought a decent electric at Christmas but find that useless so figured I'd give this a go.

Here's a good video on the basics of DE shaving:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qSIP6uQ3EI

I've been using a DE razor for a year now and wouldn't change back. (Except when I'm in a huge hurry in the morning- then it's a Gillette Sensor in the shower. You do NOT want to hurry a DE Shave! oO )

Mantics videos are well worth watching if you fancy trying DE shaving. I can shave every day without any irritation since i switched to DE's.

ideal mothers day present for the mother in law obviously!

Also try at least a few different brands of blades. I use Feather too but they're probably a bit *too* sharp for a beginner. Perhaps the Gillette yellows?

If you decide to try DE Shaving it's a good idea to get a sample pack of a few different blades. There are a few guys on eBay that sell them as well as online vendors.

Have thought about trying one for ages so going to take this opportunity. Have a feeling I should take my time with the shaves though....

Ordered mine ;o)
#15
Excellent, just ordered one for my first try

Anyone tried the new Fusion? Got one on offer from Tesco for a fiver with two blades just to see if it's any better than the old Fusion. Wow! The shave is so much better. It's definitely the biggest improvement I've seen in a razor.

Add this and you will hardly spend a penny on razors.

I was quite sceptical about this when I first saw it but it does seem to get pretty good reviews in general. However you can get pretty much the same result use a hand towel or pair of jeans:

Haven't seen one of these for yeeeeeeeears. I remember my dad used to use one when I was a kid (probably still does for that matter) and I just about took the end off my finger checking it out! oO
