Can't work out how or why anyone would think this is a good deal. A quick workout of Amazon price tracking suggests that this really is a very poor deal.

Not true at all, maybe you are confusing this item with another? The 3tb has never (ever) sold below £99.50 , currently on Amazon for £133.03 https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Silver-Passport-Ultra-Portable-External/product/B011Z7E4C6?context=search (£74 in this thread)

The 2tb has never sold below £70 (£54.99 in this thread) https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Silver-Passport-Ultra-Portable-External/product/B00MAG2M08?context=search currently selling at £99.99 on Amazon

Will defo work with an Xbox one, that's the main reason for my purchase. When you plug the device in, it will ask you to re-format the drive to work with Xbox One, click yes. Regarding the TV, I'm pretty sure it will, if your smart TV has an empty USB in slot, however, it really depends on Make / Model of the TV.

Thanks for sharing sinxa. I just ordered a 2TB silver. My old passport died on me recently so this is good timing for me.

Looks like a good deal.
Does anyone know if the hard drives come in their original box? I want to get one for a friend of mine as a present.
I ask because I recently got a recertified My Book for myself, it came in a brown delivery box with just the disk and the accessories inside. I didn't care then since it was for me, but this time I want to make a present.
Cheers.

That's a shame... Thanks for the help though.

I think they always come in brown boxes. All mine have in the past.

I'm sticking out for a price reduction on the 3tb in silver, only because I already have the blue and gold options. They're excellent value in my experience.

I only need 200gb/500gb anyone?

Recertified for the price of new a year ago - bargain!! Fed-up with all these lame back-peddling post-Brexit "deals" myself.

IMF in a five year forecast predicted a huge fall in the pound years before the Brexit vote. The pound was overvalued for years and long due an adjustment.

Granted not metal but I got a 3TB in white brand new not last Christmas but the one before for £103 so I'm sorry but this doesn't seem a great deal to me.

I would never buy a WD hard drive again, I had 2 in the past and both corrupted over a couple of years, they don't seem to be made to last

To be fair, you bought a less 'polished' and generally cheaper drive 16 months ago (pre Brexit & it's implications on the value of the £) for more money than the near / better equivalent products in this deal. The only thing that differs is the that these are recertified, and in my experience that really hasn't been an issue as the several drives I have really haven't missed a beat.

for people who keep missing especially the desktop drive deals there is a seller masquerading on ebay as two ,but literally its the same seller who keeps selling them as new direct from seller (WD) with plain packaging :p mate of mine went against my advice band purchased 2 items from them because he though hell get full warranty sure as anything it turned out to be these re-certified drives with less than 6 months warranty the seller(s) also sells re-certified red drives with 6 months warranty separately but of course doesn't mention warranty is non transferable , so there is No warranty look at the links below just thought ill post here to warn ebayers to the ruse , my buddy is currently reporting the seller i think but i did tell him so hate to say it

Thanks for the info, just FYI this deal is not for an eBay item, it's direct from the manufacturer. I tend to steer clear from eBay for reasons such as this.

yes i know bud i am a regular buyer from WD Store as well, the deal is hot , just wanted t let punters know that those who offer similar items on ebay which look like they have full warranty and "new" actually come from WD re-certificated store like the sellers who bulk buy from the WD Store and sell it as new with full warrnty on ebay i highlighted above scam artists really as they mislead buyers , but OP your deals is hot i find these re-certified products very good
