If you haven't already buy this then I wouldn't bother!! My daughter desperately wanted one for christmas so we got her one (she's 8 too) and by lunchtime she wanted it putting on ebay. It's really silly as you have to say your password into the little microphone for it to open, but if you say it with ANY background noise, or in a slightly different tone (and I mean very slight) then it doesn't open, it has to sound EXACTLY as you said it when you originally set the password up and we managed to open it probably 3 times out of about 50. As I said, I really wouldn't bother, any Girl Tech items we've had have always proved to be a pile of pants!!

I found this the same as other a pile of c***.
Never mind, keeps the kids busy trying to open it, they do get bored after about 15 - 20 mins tho and then all hell breaks loose cause you have to try and open it.

Just try explaining to your daughter that you've looked into it and lots of people have said that there's this problem, I know that if I told my daughter that then she'd decide she didn't want it anymore as she knows how annoyed she gets with them (although we do have the journal to always use as a guide so it did have some use)!!.

Yes I did think that, the other option i thought was get it, let her realise its rubbish then take it back! That way its her choice not mummy being horrible!:giggle:
