Hot deal, on a HOT sauce
#2
just had one for tea , fantastic
#3
Bought one of each about two weeks ago because of this price when it was in that insanely hot Sainsburys deal post.
#4
is it the pastes or just the ready made sauce?
#5
just having a munch now.

...with a Pataks curry that is.
#6
the sauce is absolute crap. one of the most awful tasting things ive ever had. will be sticking to home made / take away from now on. cold cos its really not worth it. sorry.

In your opinion.
#8
fairly sure that these are only 69p in farmfoods all the time
#9
The pastes are a much better deal. Two tablespoons of the paste plus some coconut milk* and you get a much tastier curry for less.

*to save even more use the coconut sachets to create coconut milk (just mix them with boiling water)

Agreed. They're a bit bland for me personally. Geetas or the Aldi copy (especially the Aldi version) are much tastier.
#11
Neither hot nor cold as cheap price but not up to much taste wise.
#12
79p and people compare to take aways --- lol
#13
Meh I find Pataks just as good as take-away so good stuff! :D

Chinese on the other hand... cannot be replicated at home.

Totally agree, when you're used to a good curry this stuff tastes vile. In fact I've had a few different Pataks products (sauces, pastes, ready made meals) and they are all pretty poor.
You get what you pay for though, so if you aren't too fussed with quality it's an OK deal.

You should find yourself a new Indian take away if that's the case...

+ breast of chicken, basmati rice, no complimentary papadums, the need to actually cook it, washing up the cooking utensils and pans, and in the end a completely different standard of food.
I'd still rather buy a tak away than cook a curry with this stuff. In fact, there are plenty of curry powders around that taste better, and aren't much dearer.
#15
Just buy some masala and red chilli powder, fry chicken and onions ( in cooking oil) with these and THEN add this sauce...bootiful
#16
cold, you can make a far premium sauce with a dirty squeejy and some virgin goats milk and some soil from inside the air filter of a TATA Safari (quite cheap these days)

just kidding, a hot deal!!!

The only reason Indians used spicy sauces and hot spice was to cover the taste of the rotten meat they used to use. Who'd have thought that now people actually like the flavour!

Yeah, Guinness was a mistake too, and that goes down just as well as a rotten meat curry :-D .

Thank you, I use lots of these sauces :-) Time to stock that cupboard up!
#20
Personally, I find Pataks pastes truly awful but the price here is good so I have voted HOT.

I beg to differ on the Chinese comment. Try this.....

http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/0/xpi62139030.htm

....only £1.49 a tub. It makes loads and tastes as good as, if not better, than the 'real' thing.
#21
love these, and i have literally tried them all, went round all the supermarkets and tried every brand and found the Balti version of this the best, if needed hotter add a little spice. Morrison jalfrezi at 98p a jar is also very good. But each to there own, you can make a better one from scratch without question (123curry) but for easy of use this is hot IMO and I'm gonna stock up on the balti version tomorrow! Thanks!
#22
id also say its the best curry from a jar, add a onion and some peppers and you can hardly tell its not take away... yum yum
#23
Grossman's for a £ at Asda are by far the best curries. Patak's are poor in my opinion.
#24
pataks pastes are used regular in indian restaurants to make tikka massalla dishes ! so they cant be to bad lol
#25
The Korma one mixed with chicken breast, red onions, green and red peppers and mushrooms is lush with basmati rice and naan bread, for those unable to go to an Indian it's a pretty good cheap substitute for a Saturday evening in with tv and a beer!!! voted hot from me who obviously can't afford the local Indian.

bit gay that

a self proclaimed 'best restaraunts in manchester' -well i never, it must be if you say so and you work there.

For future reference its worth noting that you can't really be objective about a place you work in. Also, you mentioned 'in manchester' -there are no good restaraunts in manchester. Are you starting to see where you went wrong here? Further more, you say you don't want to give anything away, but c'mon we all know you missed Alsatian Dog Meat off that list deliberately. Finally, I don't think self promotion is allowed on this site, so consider this your first warning.

Over & Out.

P.S. sending me private messages entitled 'hey needle *****' are hilarious -keep em coming!
