The Paul Merton Collection, presented here (in a piece of inspired casting) by comedian Paul Merton, is a lovingly flung together compilation of hilarious clips and brilliant moments of comedy genius from the wide range of Paul’s much-loved television shows, many of which have never been seen on DVD before. Already a well-established stand-up comedian, Paul Merton’s television breakthrough came in 1988 in the improvised comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? When the long-running satirical panel-show Have I Got News For You began in 1990; Paul’s deadpan humour and biting wit instantly delighted millions of viewers, and he continues to make the show an unmissable highlight of British comedy TV. His own sketch show Paul Merton - The Series saw him delve deeper into his unique world of inventive and surreal humour, and in 1999 he became host of the comedy chat-show Room 101.
The Collection also features Paul Merton’s appearances onParkinson and Clive Anderson Talks Back, as well as two versions of his acclaimed short film The Suicidal Dog.
