Just saw one of my favourite bands Mogwai post this on facebook, and thought it was a nice little thing for Christmas.

---------------------------

We’ve grouped together six phenomenal independent bands from the city to share with you, and we hope you’ll help us support the Glasgow Foodbanks just in time for Christmas.

The Good Pack is a place to discover new music and support important causes at the same time. For 10 days, from December 14 to 24, pay whatever you think is fair to get a high-quality mp3 collection of the albums (at 320 kbps). If you pay at least $6, you’ll also unlock the collection as lossless FLAC files in addition to the mp3s.

40 percent of whatever you pay will go to the Glasgow Northwest and Southeast Foodbanks to help their mission of supplying meals to Glasgow’s hungry.

When you get the Good Pack, you’ll receive an email with a link to download the collection. The files will be ready to play on your computer, your phone, or any other music-listening apparatus — all with zero restrictions and no annoying DRM.

60 percent of your chosen sales price is split by the musical artists and 10 percent goes to the Good Pack to cover operational costs. While we normally reserve 30 percent for our sponsored nonprofit, Carson Wells has offered to contribute their share to the foodbanks, and so we’re proud to be sharing 40 percent of sales with them.

The bands in this collection:

Algernon Doll

Three Blind Wolves

Carson Wells

Poor Things

Pronto Mama

BAD LUCK

Yes, I might be willing to give 40% of a penny to a food bank. See, I'm not that bad :p

As a taxpayer I didn't ask to donate to a foodbank.... Instead I am appalled that the current government seek to attack the poor and that the creation of foodbanks are necessary to stop people from dying.

Modern society is bitter and spiteful. Rise above it people, don't be manipulated, make a humane choice.

I bet the bone idle in this country can't believe their luck at how these food banks have taken off. I personally wouldn't give a penny to them as I know a complete con when I see one!

I would like to hear these thoughts on food banks.

I've said it for months, guaranteed that every single person filling their boots at any food bank will have a least one, more likely a combination of the following; a packet of cigarettes in their pocket, a top of the range smart phone, gambling problem, drug problem, alcohol problem, staffy dog.

I for one won't be made a fool of by them!!
I think I can pretty much guarantee that you have never seen the food bank users and are basing your moronic assumptions on some lazy Daily Mail style journalism. Sad that they are needed in this day and age so good on these bands doing this.
Some of the comments on here show that there are some complete fuds on every forum.

Am I reading it wrong or are they ending up with 110%?

60% to artists
10% to good pack
Then the usual 30% donation has increased to 40% thanks to Carson Wells?

I assume that 50% is now going to the artists as Carson Wells have given their 10% of the 60% share, so that then adds up to 100%, but I think you knew that and were just being picky :p

What a sad mis-informed individual you come across as by making this statement when it is quite clear you know absolutely nothing about the foodbank system & how it works.I suggest Gball that you take the time to actually read the qualifying criteria for foodbank vouchers & also the limitations on actual provision allocation.

I personally know of a few people who are using food banks that don't need to (screwing the system) now I think food banks are a wonderful thing for genuine people who are struggling but feel sickened by the scroungers that are more then capable of feeding themselves.

My brother's next door neighbour is on benefits. He quite proudly told my brother that he now has more money to spend on gear as he can "fall back" on food banks whenever he needs to. He's a typical junkie scum, quite scrawny and his referral to the food bank comes from his doctor. If you people think he is alone in ripping the p1ss out of the food bank system, then you're deluded. Thankfully my brother lives 200 miles away from where I do, and the nearest food bank is over 60 miles from my house. Wait and see my truthful comment being deleted again, YAWN!!!

Seems the mods on this site don't allow people to have opinions which is annoying because this post is about food banks and we should be able to speak our minds.

I agree with what you say whole country gets screwed one way or another by people who don't need what they can get lets start with parlament and there expenses do you have the same hate against them?

Foodbanks may get abused but most people need them who use them and in this day and age where we have people getting shafted by our goverment because they are disabled or work on min wage and need a little help we can do without the likes of you trying to make out everyone who needs some help as junkie.

Food banks are an idea from America. Over there people really do struggle. Here however, if you're on the dole you get ample benefits and pay for nothing so should NEVER be starving. Same goes for people on low income as they get tax credits and get their wages topped up with some benefits. The only people who need food banks in this country are those that bring it on themselves by bad money management and addictions like gambling, drugs, alcohol and of course these are also self inflicted!

I am sick to death of every person in society bleeding the rest of us dry, whether at the top as an MP's expenses or some scrounger who spends their money as they please and then relies on the generosity of good samaritans to feed them.

Don't be angry at hearing the truth, food banks don't actually anger me because I'm not foolish to ever pay a penny towards them. I think I do more than my fair share at feeding the nations needy and bone idle by paying my taxes.

You're ridiculous. you're blaming poor people for bleeding you dry. You need to sort your priorities out and look at the bigger picture. You're believing right wing news papers, channel 5 tv shows and whatever a politician tells you. You have this view that everyone on low income are DEFINITELY on benefits. I was working a low income job, where I was only jjust paying for rent. But I wasn't on and tax credits or benefits.

If you have this grandiose opinion of yourself because you pay your taxes.. well done.. you pay your taxes. You're a god. I'm in awe of your generosity!!

Most of the people using foodbanks are either in work and have short to medium term financial problems or have just lost their jobs usually through no fault of their own and are looking for new jobs but their benefits take a minimum of three weeks to be processed. How can they be lazy if their are or were until recently in work. Yes there are some people who take advantage of the schemes like drug addicts but they are only a small proportion of the people who use the services and usually the services I am aware of have systems in place to limit any small scale exploitation of the service.

So you believe what this guy next door says (_;)

I think you're the deluded one in what you now believe.

Foodbank referrals are limited to 3 per year so he is either lying or assuming other identities with the help of his doctor, this does happen.

The main factor nowadays for food bank referral is benefit sanctions.

I thought the channel 5 benefits debate a few months ago was actually quite sympathetic. Dispelled some myths. Not at all like the channel 4 one a week or 2 later which just seemed to promote them.

Oh yea and I don't know these bands but mogwai are cool so I'll buy it! Thanks op
