the original does not tie you into any contract whereas this one is a monthly rolling contract.

It seems they are rolling it out as we speak.
But after looking neither of my phones support past 14.4 Mbps anyway!
T-mobile seems very slow here, 3 is much faster.

Use at your own risk though
According to the unapologetic member of staff, you cant simply reserve the PAYG version i linked to then walk in, pick it up, buy it and walk out...they wont let you walk out of the shop without a credit check and a contract! Was not impressed. They dont state that anywhere in the buying process and he didnt seem to give a damn that we had specifically made the trip to the store for the dongle.
Pretty sure they cant even insist on you getting a contract through them though as the company you contract with is Three, not Currys?!
He then proceeded to try and talk my girlfriend into getting a £40 PAYG dongle instead. I wasnt impressed in the slightest.
As an aside I asked for the 3131, he said no stock....but i have just gone online and reserved one at the very same store, I'm not holding my breath it will be there waiting though. I'm really going to stop bothering with currys, last three experiences have been similar story to this and I keep saying i wont bother with them again. Just wish they didnt have a monopoly via DSG (assume they are still owned by them) and there was actually some competition with same number of stores etc...

yeah, i had a monthly rolling contract on my mobile and it works as thus.
you have to sign to a contract, where you will need to be credit checked like any other contract. you pay for the first month in advance and it rolls on from month to month so if you want to use the dongle with another provider, you will lose at least 2 months of fees as the first month has to be paid for in advance and you can only cancel with a month's notice so if you give notice at the end of the first month, this ties you to the end of the 2nd month.
so OP's one is better as it does not tie you to anything as you can buy the dongle without any top up.
We now have an E3131, thanks op :)
