More of an FYI but excellent nonetheless. Loads of upgrade deals for CPW pay-as-you-go punters and at the same time, prices are network dependant. NOT TRUE. Jump to comment #20 (thank you for your input) if you want to skip reading the bulk of this post
If you read the small print (CPW homepage - help - upgrades - payg upgrades - pay as you go upgrade price match) CPW have a PAYG upgrade price promise. Good news, PAYG phones are the same across the major networks CPW do business with. Bad news, as you have to go instore, you forego cashback.
As the link for CPW ALWAYS defaults to the homepage, I have copied and pasted the relevant info below:
What is a Pay as you go upgrade price match?
If you're eligible for a Pay as you go upgrade, come into store and you're guaranteed the best deal across the major networks. When you buy a new Pay as you go phone, you can stay on your network (and keep your SIM, your number and any credit you have), without missing out on any great prices offered on other networks.
How does it work?
So for example:
You've seen a phone you really like the look of
But the best price for it is on a different network than the one you're on at the moment
But you don't want to change networks; you're happy where you are
Upgrading your Pay as you go phone in store means we'll give you the lowest price offered by any network, but let you stay on the network you love!
What else do I need to know?
You're not required to buy an additional top up to activate your new phone.
This offer is not currently available on talkmobile.
The same terms and conditions of your network will still apply.
The Pay as you go upgrade price match is currently only available to customers who come into store.
So for example, you're on o2 but want the Nokia Lumia 630 as an upgrade deal for the same price as Voda, Virgin et al, instore CPW will match the other networks price not charge an extra tenner. You have to remind the assistants sometimes that it's on their website under help and upgrades.
Hopefully this will help some folk save money on their PAYG upgrades
Thanks OP for posting this, very helpful.
I used this over the weekend to get a Nokia 630 for £79.95 on an O2 pay as you go upgrade.
As others have said, the sales staff know nothing about this and their systems have no options available to apply the price match. However, persistence pays off and you have to insist thay they ring their support lines to get the discount authorised, especially on a 630 which thay said was, ordinarily, not discountable.
It does work
