Signing up with PayPal is simple. Go to the UK website at www.paypal.co.uk and click “Sign up.” Now, choose a personal account, type in your e-mail address and a password, and you’re ready to go.
You can now head to your PayPal dashboard, where you can manage your account and add credit or debit card accounts. That way, you can transfer money into and out of your PayPal account easily. However, adding cards is not an instant process. PayPal requires verification that you are the owner of the card, and you may need to enter information from a recent bank statement before being able to complete the process.
Once your cards are linked to your PayPal account, you can start making purchases. When you see the PayPal logo at a checkout page, simply enter the e-mail address you linked to your PayPal account and the payment will be made. It will show up as soon as the payment is processed as an invoice in your account, which can be accessed via your personal dashboard.
There is also a separate application process for PayPal Credit. This service allows you to borrow money for purchases at low interest rates and to pay in installments if the option exists.
Sales at PayPal.com
PayPal don’t offer conventional sales like other retailers. However, they do have a retail section on their website that features the latest deals from their partners.. For example, you can save money at high street names like Boots or online outlets like the Apple iTunes Store. Most of the deals are linked to discount codes, and are usually timed for major events like Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Father’s Day.
You can also expect plenty of PayPal offers when Black Friday arrives in late November. This is the day that the Christmas shopping season kicks off, and online retailers tend to offer huge discounts. Many of them will team up with PayPal, so check out their HotUKDeals listings as the day approaches.
Payment Methods That Can Link With PayPal Accounts
Almost any form of credit or debit card can be linked to your PayPal account, enabling you to top it up or transfer cash to a normal bank account. Major cards include: American Express, Visa Debit, Visa Credit, MasterCard, Solo and Electron.
Customers can add as many cards as they like to their personal PayPal account, but the same card can only be used on two PayPal accounts simultaneously.
To add a card, go to your personal dashboard and click on the “Wallet” link. Now choose “Add a card”, select the correct options and enter your card number. Now press “Save.”
PayPal will usually deposit a small amount of money in the account along with a PayPal Code. This code is needed before the card can be authorised and will arrive instantly.
PayPal are also one of the most security aware firms on the web, and seek to protect customers’ personal information at all times.
Returning Items Bought Via PayPal
All purchases are covered by PayPal Buyer Protection, which assists customers in getting their money back when an incorrect or damaged item is received. If successful, you will receive the full value of the item plus and postage and packaging costs incurred during the purchase.
To initiate the Buyer Protection process, you’ll need to let PayPal know that there is a problem with your order:
To do so, log into your account as normal. Now, go to the “Resolution Centre” of your account. You should see a list of recent transactions at the bottom of the page.
Click “Dispute a transaction” and follow the steps provided. Make sure you pick the right transaction, and provide any information PayPal requires.
You and the seller involved will now be able to agree upon a resolution. If that doesn’t work, you can escalate it to a “Claim” and PayPal will decide whether to issue a refund.
Cancelling Your PayPal Account
Closing a PayPal account is simple and no details will remain on the system. To cancel your account, log into your dashboard.
Go to the “Profile” button and then click the “Close account” link. Now click “Continue” and finally, press the “Close account” button.
