I could never get online with battlefield 3 so vowed never to buy from this franchise again? Did they fix the issue on battlefield 4

You didn't miss anything. BF3 maps were bottleneck hell making the maps pointless and no fun. Loading times were just simply a joke too. Not even in the same league as Bad Company 2. Not tried BF4 yet as there's nothing but horror stories about server issues and hackers. Maybe they've fixed all the issues by now :)

HOT though, good price for limited edition. May even tempt me to give BF4 a try.

Not long fixed the rubber banding issues. Hence the reason them giving away battlefield 3 for nothing to try to tempt people back. No more battlefields for me as I much prefer the simplicity of Bad Company 2 as that was a bloody brilliant game with a simple weapon system and none if this spending an hour customising and making weapons.

If you are reading Dice. You know it makes sense.

you really need premium with this game so add another £30

Better on PS4.

what does limited edition mean? Is it just the basic game?

I think the limited edition comes with the 'China Rising' DLC pack - other than that, it's the same.

Battlefield 4 is the genre-defining action blockbuster .

Is it...? o_O Did the genre not get defined enough the previous 3 attempts then?

What does that give you? Or, to put it another way, what are you missing if you don't have it?

Never really had much issue with the various network issues.

You do get slow loading times, but that's the same as every Battlefield game ever. Massive, deformable levels = big load times. If you can drop it on an SSD these go away.

I agree that the simplicity of Bad Company 2 made it a far more enjoyable drop-in-drop-out experience. But BF4 now is twice the game BF3 ever was or is. Great price. You can get the premium pack for £25 of CD key sites and they do offers on it ever now and again.

It's fine starting with the BF4 base pack. But premium does add some more game types as well as weapons, maps, double XP events etc

Buying the "Limited edition" is pointless, as it includes China Rising, which you get anyway when you buy Premium. Why buy Premium? Because it's the other 5/6ths of the game maps and without it you can't join 90% of the servers on-line. As you not permitted to join a server with DLC maps in the rotation, even if the current map is a vanilla one.

THIS is the evil of DLC. It's a not-so-subtle way to charge double for a game and fractures the on-line community. If they HAVE to milk something, sell single-player campaign DLC's and leave the MP maps the hell alone.

Hot on the price, but cold on the part-purchase tactic from EA/DICE.

I agree completely. I have not bought BF4 premium this time. The weird part is when I had premium for BF3 everyone seemed to be playing vanilla and I never felt I got any value out of the DLC. They probably rig the browser to only give low ping to premium ones. Pay to win.

It was a nightmare in terms of stability for a long time but it seems to be sorted now. better than bf3 but no where near as good a feeling as the original and bf2 when they were released. I could live without premium with vanilla and China rising. Good value at this price.

To the poster claiming you need premium, load of rubbish. There are loads of vanilla maps on bf4,and most of the premium maps are turd anyway

Great on PS4. But Betafield 4 is broken on PC. Please, all of you, do not give them money like I did. It just motivates them to do it again...
Loved BF3 though. Hardline was decent too, and best of all bug-free
