Anyone know the spec, motherboard etc....? Interested to know how much/which memory as well as ensuring its PCI express (just in case) etc....
Any chance this would come with Operating system discs?? I've never bought from Bigpockets before.

Its a Pentium D though which is one of the first dual core chips and is a bit ****** compared to the core2duo speed wise. a 1.6ghz C2D will outperform this Pentium D 820 at 2.8ghz.

Fine for most things but not games really

OK, thanks for the heads-up,
I got a 2.6 P4 with 2gig ram and 256 AGP graphics just now
been looking for a cheap upgrade, maybe this isn't enough of a step up to justify the hassle for me.
Thanks again

"As new" = is that mislead-speak for refurbished & repacked or a euphemism for whatever they want it to mean!

Perhaps they have been saving it for a rainy day, or were they hoping it would increase it's value by keeping it?

It isn't even a decent version of XP, it is Media Center with all that junk and bloat loading up into just 512Mb of Ram that needs disabling to get it to boot and run anything like acceptably :-(

Still, it isn't quite as archaic as some of the recent offerings! It even has a DVD-RW drive which is more than some of them have had!

Still poor value though, just not quite as poor as they have been! Cheap is veery rarely good value, this is just another example of that.

Spend under 165 quid, get a more modern PC with far better spec, a year's warranty keyboard, mouse and a lot more besides:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251581

although that isn't as good VALUE as:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251581&page=2 for just over 200, but which is a LONG way better.

I have just ordered one for my son for Xmas, his Mom has one of these (except that its a 2.2 dual core) and it runs very quick under XP, no problems at all. The PC is used for internet, video, playing Warcraft and MS office mostly.
Its true its not a gaming PC, but if its a gaming PC your after you need to spend £250+ to get an entry level one, this is not being sold as a gaming PC.
I have been hunting over the last 3 months for a cheap PC to mainly run Warcraft happily, and I know this will do it, yes it has some older componets but so what if it still does the job.
Iqon were an Irish company that went bump at the start of this year, the stock Bigpockets are selling "As New" are just that, stock that has not been used but sold to get some creditors money back after the company went under.
Bad Points:
1. Only 3 months warranty, if it goes wrong in that time don't think its going to get repaired, you will get your money back instead. I think if a PC is going to go wrong it generally will be in the first 3 months.
2. DDR ram, its about 25% more than DDR2 (£8.99 for PNY 512MB DDR 400 at play.com).
Good Points:
1. It's cheap.
2. Components are top quality, optical drives Philips, hard drive Maxtor etc.

Tried to break down the cost of buying the bits to build a PC, know its a bit of a guess as most components you carn't get anymore but it gives a rough idea of what value this is and I've worked on the cheapest prices for each.
Motherboard + Dual Core = £30.00
Ram = £8.99
Hard Drive = £ 24.00
Case + power supply = £13.00
Card Reader = £4.00
DVD writer = £13.00
Keyboard + mouse = £3.00
Floppy = £2.00
Windows XP = £30.00
Leads + fans = £3.00
Total = £130.99

To me this is a good deal.

I would question your guesswork on what wonderful customer service Bigpopckets offer, and "getting you money back." I haven't got a clue how good or bad they are, but getting sorted out when there are problems is a challenge with ANY company, and the money back option from the best of them involves a lot of calls, letters and to-ing and fro-ing. I start off on the basis of getting something that is not too likely to go bust, but if it is then the next option should be might I stand a chance of a replacement, and if this doesn't happen, hopefully it is fixable - getting money back and not being out of pocket on all those easily run up costs is nigh on impossible from the best of companies. I would not start off on that basis.

Why on earth would you want to go to all that bother to build an outdated low spec machine? As you say, it is based on "components you can't get anymore!" :?
However if someone DID manage to do it, the difference there would be the simple fact that those components would have a MUCH longer warranted life anyway!

The issue is not whether it is cheap, it IS, very cheap - but whether it is so cheap and feeble, THAT makes it poor value :-(

Cheapest doesn't often make good financial sense, that is obvious on hundreds of "deals" on this site every week, still, some can't see beyond low price as a marker - VALUE is another thing altogether.

Superior spec machines with much more future potential, far better performance and much more warranty are available for such good prices now, these things offer VERY poor value :-(

The price list was done just to show you couldn't buy the bits cheaper thats all.
As far as Bigpockets go for problems under warranty, I had an 80GB PVR from them that went faulty, had to send it back at my own cost (about £5) and had a new one returned within a few days, works fine. Also had an MP4 player where the screen went black in one corner, e-mailed them, they refunded me in full and told me to keep the MP4 player even though it still works.
As far as cheapness goes the best deals other than this are the refurbs from PC World/Currys/Dixons, around £165 delivered, or 26% more than this.
I thought the idea of Hotukdeals was to give the cheapest price?
Also as far as components you carn't get anymore, all but the dual core are still available and current at ebuyer.
As far as "Superior spec machines with much more future potential, far better performance and much more warranty are available for such good prices now" perhaps you could give an example?

well despite the above comments, this is a very good entry level PC for basic needs.

moan all you like but £122 for this unit is a very good price indeed - yes there are much better/newer machines around for abit more money but its not £122 is it? and this is! if your looking for a cheap dual core then this is the perfect unit for you,

you can run office all day to day programs required, obviously not a gaming machine but its not supposed to be, games are for consoles IMO, PC's were never ment to be gaming machine's really, alternatively buy a PS3 if you want to play games.

I would buy this computer for this price without a doubt although i have a core 2 quad dell machine so ive not bothered.

Dont know why everyone wants to drag this machine down, if it works & does the job for little money then its worth it.

Why run this down? We don't all have an ulimited budget, and for those on a limited budget it will do a job.

As for their customer service, I have never experienced, or heard of anyone who has, problems with them. I am sure if I dig deep enough I will. The only shame is they closed their counter in Lye. Never a huge wait, only ever seen one more customer ahead of me in a queue.
You tried Eclipse recently??????????????

Show a better deal for the same price, or stop moaning and putting it down!

Where do you get the idea I am moaning? I am not.... I don't buy this sort of stuff, I have bought rubbish in my time, I learned, and know better now, so far from moaning, I am smiling, a huge grin, ear to ear too. Trouble is, this is a computer, a subject area that terrifies and baffles a lot of people, and there is a vast market out there of people who know so little about this sort kit, and they are the ones that need warning, not gleeful cheers of how wonderful it is when it isn't.
Why are you so worried that they might be put off?

I doubt there would be a queue if the stuff is all as "good" as this! Does that not say something? Since when have poor shops ever been the ones with the big queue? No wonder you can't work this out, it doesn't often work that way!

I could say the same thing about any number of cheap rubbishy items in a pound shop - show me a better deal for the same price - and I couldn't, no doubt about it. Dead certain. Still dross too, and most of the time, a waste of a pound.

Similar thing with this, it is not worth having, any more than one of those 2500 quid Indian "cars" they had on the news a while back are worth having, just a total waste of money, beyond worthless, even though again, there is nothing better for the price.
It is a common thing, the cheapest items turning out to be tat that is worthless, yet someone will always come along and buy it, be disappointed and guess what, they wonder why!

If you haven't got the money now for a sensible buy, don't chuck money away, and sit tight until you do get the money together, spending it on junk now won't make it any easier to get a decent item later, just harder.
