Forgive my ignorance but what does "Windows XP Pro OEM License (not loaded)" mean, are you able to download a version for free, cos you have the licence?

avoid like the plague ... read up about this model

We had them at work and had to replace the lot of them due to the failure rate. I wouldnt be surprised if they are our cast offs as we sold over 200 of them to a recycling company

although may i add the GX270 is even worse

oops I didnt realise it actually posted, so I gave up.
I meant to say you will need an XP disc if you wanted to use Windows.

It’s bad enough when posters can’t be bothered to include P+P in the price but now minus VAT :x
#11
So there's a license but no disk, so if you have a disk already you could scrap or sell on the PC leaving you with a valid copy of XP Pro for £56..?

Nope, unfortunately not. It's an OEM licence (COA bonded to the case) which is non-transferable (legally that is).

Oh, shame. Thanks for the clarification. :)

This always used to crack me up when ISPs and computer shops use to quote this.

Its got a network card... Thats all you need.

Back on topic, we are throwing these away at work. Got a few myself for free. Good basic PC.

The 280's were fine, it was the 270 that kept popping the caps. Although both had issues with the PSU's.

Those voting cold then give a better deal ?, non have and probably cant.

£56 for a small compact pc great for surfing, office and older games with a XP Pro license.

Well bargain for those wanting one for the kids & homework, messenger, etc get one for the older generation something not to forbolding helps them keep in the modern world.

OK 30 day warrant who cares its £50 quid what you expect a year on a refurb ?, never had a pc go on me ever even **** ones and nothings gonna stress these.

It is HOT for a cheap PC! n1 OP

seen lots of review with caps problem, usb problem and computer not booting.....

As for the OEM license transfer you are, in theory, protected by European 1991 Computer Software Directive and in UK you should be able to argue against "unreasonable restraints of trade". Although for a system with 512 MB ram I wouldn't bother installing XP and might just go for Ubuntu or similar.

Anyone wonder were the xbox 360 shape was taken from? :)

XP would run OK with 512mb RAM. You could also install another gig for around a tenner.
Nothing against Linux - but most "users" would be comfortable with XP.

lol college used to have these, they were so bloody loud!

even still at that price, if you need a computer to check your mail go for it
#24
There's some P3 900s on ebay for around £35 inc delivery that have Win 2k on them. If all you want is a machine for emailing and light web browsing, there's really no need for anything faster.
XP will even run on these although it's better if they have 512 MB memory.

However, if you want to play the latest games, run Vista or Photoshop or something else that's high end, buy a new machine.

Sometimes I find these responses really strange...I got an email which I thought may interest some people and as I was on my way out to work thought I'd quickly post it, I didn't have time to work out the vat etc which seems to have caused a problem but thought if any one was interested they could soon work it out themselves, is it me:?
