I know there are a few people looking forward to this game, so I though I'd post this offer to let you all know that if you pre-order it from PCWorld, you can get Battlefield 2142 for £19.99 including delivery (Cheapest elsewhere is about £26 at the minute).

This is due for release on the 20th of October - not long now!!

Some details: Wage epic-scale war * Play up to 64-Players Online * New weapons

Enter discount voucher YAWOB6 for 5% off.

So...

£19.99 - (YAWOB6 ) £1 - (Quidco) £1.14 = £17.85

Just pre-ordered it :) Thanks for the heads up!

Played the demo today which spurred me onto actually buying it. Much more fun than BF2!
#16
Tried to order this last night, now when you click on it to put it in basket you get told it's removed due to high demand :-(
#17
That is so annoying! Was going to pre-order it today as credit card rolled over :(

It must be mega-high demand for PCWorld not to want to take your money off you!!!
#19
I bought Quake Wars instead for the same price - out same day anyway...
#20
Can get close by buying it at CDWOW using £2 vouchers:

Back in stock now at PC WORLD ! :)

Cant seem to cancel orderes once placed for some reason. Was going to cancel quake wars!
#22
Not hugely impressed with EAs decision to include in-game ads based on tracking your surfing habits, but I might treat myself anyway...

Time to head back to PCWorld after getting the 20" Samsung monitor from a few days back!

Hate to rain on your parade but Quake Wars has been delayed til sometime next year in order to take advantage of additional Vista features. I have mine preordered too :(

Edit: We should start a HUKD clan on BF2142 :)
#24
Oh dear... how do I cancel then? Dont want it to suddenly appear! Will order this instead than :)
#26
Wow great deal thanks Emma. They take Amex now as well which is a bonus...
#27
Congratulations are in order for PCWorld yet again, BF2142 has arrived on release day via courier - Just as they did with Company of Heroes. Brilliant price and service, can't imagine ordering PC games anywhere else at the moment.

So then, are we starting a HUKD Clan?
#28
Before you order this, check out the terms and conditions that EA impose upon you when installing the game.

Apparently, the game installs software that scans your machine for marketing purposes and sends the info back to EA, supposedly so they can target you with appropriate marketing stuff.

EA ARE EVIL! Never forget that!

It is still invasion of privacy. I have nothing to hide and will be playing it regardless, I do frown upon this new EA policy though.

As long as they advertise deals based on what im looking at (like cheap xbox 360 and tv's) then its all good. If its cat food im gonna be annoyed tho!
#33
Sometimes you just gotta take a stand. I've also worked on an EA project and they are the most exploitative employers out there.

There should be an option to allow it or not. Companies pay lots of money for marketing information, why should we pay EA to give it them?
#34
Pure and simple, the consumer needs to speak out now - Otherwise we're destined to continue down this path.
#35
True! It would be better without but everyone is after advertising these days.

OK you win I'm persuaded - gonna send my game back now. Thanks for ruining it for me! lol jkin!
#36
Inevitably someone will Mod it to block these shenanigans.
#37
It dosnt bother me enough not to buy the game. Maybe thats why its available so cheap ?

Mine is showing with the couriers as "Out for delivery" little chance of it showing up today now :(

Was your courier guy as 'dull' as mine? Mine wouldn't shut up about how small the iPod he was delivering to me was

Edit: Yes, he thought my BF2142 was an iPod...

Surely your firewall software would prevent the game from transmitting to the EA servers from your machine. If you install a firewall you will be suprised by the number of software that actually trys to send info back for research, I just push the nice little block button and no more is ever heard on the matter.
