looks a good deal to me, although what does refurbished actually mean?
used, retuned, or ex-display?

Refurbished means it's been returned by the customer for any reason and then the manufacturer has made sure it's in perfect working order via inspections whether it required a repair or not.

The reasons for return could be anything from a faulty unit or the customer just simply changed there mind but most companies still tend to offer the standard 1 year warranty but some do limit the warranty to 3 months, so make sure to check into this by each respective product.

Refurbished products tend to sell a lot cheaper because they tend to have a shorter product life than a brand new item and the fact that someone else has been using the product puts some people off.

Hope that helps

Do PC world have a discount code at the moment? I thought I saw one for 5% recently?

Cheers

The graphics are not dedicated 512mb they are "Hypermemory" so are either 128 or 256 mb's and they make the rest up by borrowing from the system memory and Packard Bell make horrible pc's in my experience

I think there's one around but it's for NHS workers..so unless you know someone that works in that organisation I'm afraid that's it at present ..as far as I'm aware.

6% quidco..it's a decent spec maxesdad and I wouldn't personally be put off by the refurb tag.

5% code:YAWF07
+6% quidco - quite good.

although the 512mb-hyper has put me off slighlty, and packard bell build quality looks crappy.

I posted the 5% code in the vouchers section but unfortunately HUKD, can't list the deal in the vouchers section because it's supposed to be only available to a specific group of people.

Does anyone know whether this PC would qualify for the free upgrade to Vista or is PC World only offering that on non clearance items?

Full breakdown of all the component parts here :

I'd go for the 1569 and just add a decent graphics card..that's if you're a gamer otherwise it's not that important.

I was sorely tempted to buy the 2770 and just add a 22" TFT found on these forums but decided to walk from it given the review of packard bell machines on the net. It sounds like a great price but that may be an indication of the performance. All I can say is that it hurt but my senses were telling me to stay away from it :-(
