You appear to be correct, I wonder why so many places are still selling this for over £150 and why would anyone buy a 9800GT when the 250s are cheaper.

edit: Well they sure went out of stock fast

I think the places that have it in stock for £150 still have it in stock for that reason. They probably still have their original mark-up on them (perhaps because they paid too much for them too long ago?).

It was the same with the 8800GT and 9800GT. Same card, but the cheapest 9800GT quickly took over from the 8800GT. I'm sure there are still 8800GT cards for sale for exorbitant prices...
Cold. The 9800GTX+ has been rebadged as the GTS250, which start at £83 delivered at ebuyer at the moment. These are just old stock. They have been cheaper, too - about £75.

Yes, though I didn't bother to post the link, so your post was still worthwhile. Plus, you beat me to the "not available" point... 1:1
It's also listed as "available soon"... I doubt this because, as mentioned, it's obsolete (in name at least).
Looks like it's out of stock.

Here's a slightly better deal

Really struggling to see the point of this. For your money your getting a case, outdated mobo, psu, vfd and remote. Not particulary good value for money at all IMO.
so can some one else recommend something that is llike this then but modern?

Especially with the case, display, and remote and ir sensor..........i cant see getting any where near that?
Voted cold because by the time you have spent ,say , £150 getting it up and running
you still have an outdated machine.
I must agree with you, seems a better deal from BT

I'll second that - I never saw it or might have bagged myself one
It beats me that HUKD can vote this PC up to 60 degrees, and yet nobody fancied this Dabs refurb:

which I bought 3 days ago. As well and being a Vista Media Centre machine, I am able to play low-settings Crysis output via HDMI to my plasma. All for £160.

Surely a webcam on a kids product is a bit dodgy? Anyway, it's a reasonable price for the spec.

I saw this on PcPro's website; they say "The perfect Christmas present for kids, this small sized, rugged child friendly laptop features low power usage, extra security controls and a full Windows XP operating system. The Fizzbook from Zoostorm is the first fully featured mini laptop for children aged 6 - 14."

So I'm assuming that "extra security controls" means that some thought has been given to who the users of these things are going to be.

Personally, I stick a band-aid over mine, just in case!

Much slower CPU
Half the RAM
Larger hard drive
Bigger TFT with seemingly weaker warranty
Or for those who want a prebuilt one, then voila.
Hmm not sure if this is a bargin lets add up the cost of the parts
e8500- 130
4gb ram 800mhz- £53.53
320gb hdd- £35.75
cheap motherboard- £35
dvd drive- £15
cheap case- £30
lcd- 95
vista- 60
cheap keyboard mouse -10
speaker- 20 quid
psu- 20

which comes to a total of 543 quid

so yes this could be a bargin, but I would rather buy a good pc, then buy the extras afterwards like a better monitor keyboard, mouse and speaker system. I would stick in a 4850, better case, better motherboard and better psu.

19 days on and PCNextday still can't promise a delivery date

So cancelled my order for the 2 laptops

Good Laptop at a good price, but the actual companies involved (PC Nextday / Zoostorm) customer service is shocking - avoid

BTW for anybody else in the same boat here's PC Nextday's telephone number -: 0151 709 6342
Ordered two of these on the 30th August, quoted 10 days delivery, then 10 working days (which was Wednesday there), finally managed to get a phone number to call them (they are exclusively email driven) basically got told Zoostorm (the latop manufacturer) were struggling to meet demand :whistling: and that I would see the laptops next week, but could'nt confirm an exact date

If they don't confirm by Monday a due date I will be cancelling and getting my CC company to get the funds back that they took at the time of order :x

Not impressed thus far
What vista score does this get?
Hello all,
I am new to laptops and am in the process of looking to buying one, i see you all talking about the Zoostorm and the Dell Vostro, they both look good to me but like i said i am new to them and dont want to end up with something thats not very good,

so if you all dont mind giving me some more advise as to which one i should get i would really appreciate it.

Thanx all
Great spec!, never heard of the company though, I hope they don't only employ monkeys in their factory who strictly work monday mornings and friday evenings... if you know what I mean.. (reliability)

Im still loving the dell 1520 with free upgrades I got two months ago.

I bought a Zoostorm laptop last September and am very pleased with it. Couldn't find anything that matched the spec at the time without spending nearly an extra £200. I think I've determined that the chassis is Fujitsu Siemens and components like the HD are Samsung.

Mine cost me £580.00 at the time and the only upgrade I've made is increasing the RAM from 512 to 2gb - And of course used DH Mod to enable me to use the very latest ATI drivers. Runs every game I throw at it a treat.

PC Nextday, Zoostorm E2160 Dual Core PC, Nvidia 8600GT - VISTA HOME PREMIUM £489.39

My 2160 overclocks to 3.2ghz easily and is very stable. I've had to increase voltage to the cpu and memory though a bit. I did have it running at 3.5ghz for a while but it wasn't totally stable so reduced it for safety. Thats with standard air cooling and a cheap as chips psu. Superb processors for overclocking.
PCNEXTDAY usually do well in product reviews..also have some high spec laptops at reasonable prices.
Grand total plus delivery is £504

You can build a similar spec for £465 (ebuyer)

SO I think paying £40 is possibly worth it for building/1 year warranty good deal

Although, can you overclock this system? If pay another £40 ontop of the ebuyer system for large heat sink/better ram/asus p5b motherboard you could overclock the processor to 2.8ghz!

certainly a positive review for it there, and the identical setup at Littlewoods is £699... just wish I'd heard of PC NextDay before. Tempting offer though!
:) Obvious really, but a bigger image...

If you're after a thin and light laptop this may not be what you are looking for - this weighs 2.5kg, and is pretty average. This is a cold deal

In fact you might even be better off buying a 15.4" laptop which may only be 2.8-2.9kg, will cost less, and be of a higher specification. If you really want a thin and light laptop you need to be closer 1 - 1.5kg. I can recommend the Lenovo X60 for this purpose.
I'll keep this short (as i'm on my phone) but I'm extremely impressed with the Zoostorm I bought last Oct. Mine was a similar spec but a 1.6 processor, though I've upgraded from a mere 512mb to 2gb of RAM since. Plays all the latest games without a hitch, though you'll definitely benefit spending the time with driver hacks etc. to achieve the full hardware performance these are capable of.
The graphics card eats the battery.

I am impressed that it has DVI though.
Battery life 1.5 hours?:?

A bit odd, for that size screen.

please note that there is no mention of dual core..so the CPU must be a single core.
The Sapphire x1650xt is designed to draw all its power from the PCIe slot on the Mobo.
The Mobo can supply a maximum of 75w, the x1650xt uses 55w at peak.
The Sapphire x1650xt is a slim 1 slot card with no additional power connection.

Have a look here:

I bought the £270 E520 Dell Base Unit with Vista Business and have purchased a £75 Sapphire x1650xt to go in it. I already had a 22" Rev A01 monitor.

While looking around for other deals on Desktops and Graphics cards I came across the PCNextDay deal with £170 off and ready to play games straight away with no changes required. I just thought it may interest a few people who don't want to have to open up their PC and make changes/additions.

I didn't expect it to be voted hot ;-)

You have an ATI 1650xt in your E520 - do you have the standard PSU or have you upgraded the PSU?
True but I still went with the dell in the end - mainly because I could sell the 19" monitor on ebay thus the machine would cost me approx £250 and plus it came with 2GB ram. I then brought a 7600 GT for £49 from aria.
