24 inch 1440p monitor. What a waste of pixels
Different make and models and although debatable but lesser quality in my opinion.

I need to put on my hat and gloves it is cold out here

I think this is a good price, please can you advise where we could find this any cheaper? thanks

You could get 3 probably 4 for a 1ms monitor 24 inch from asus or a 34 standard lg ultrawide monitor for a 10 pound more from ccl for ASUS and amazon for lg

Loving the vive, my kids are addicted to Snow Fortress and eve Valkyrie.
I've got one. A great bit of kit, and some great games. It's turned my non-gaming wife, into a gamer chick now. It all depends on the games that you play.

Plus with a bit of know how, you can make AAA games work with it, to give you some really good 3D goggles.
A place local to me has a few of these set up at £20/hr.
Seems ok, but nothing to really grab you yet.
Would probably need a decent gaming chair too for driving/flying games.
Kids play "Shop Assistant" more than anything else...lol
Or £659 via the normal consumer site inc. VAT.
Cool piece of kit, the key thing is the additional requirement of a pretty powerful computer/laptop to run the programs..
Full experience would be WIRELESS which adds 200 quid on top.

These things are pretty dumb. After 2 days of using it I already know how to make it better, how do the idiots that make this junk be so ignorant? For example at 00:01 on Saturday morning, the steps counted are measured for Saturday, when they are clearly part of Friday night. Baring in mind this thing knows when I'm asleep, it should know I haven't gone to bed yet.

Just stuff like that, made by idiots

So get your daily step count up by extending the day into tomorrow?
You're only cheating yourself!
fit bit are like Iphones they are for hipsters and fashion enthusiasts; majority of them knows nothing about technology however they are good looking and very good at talking i.e. sugar coating crap. Have you ever work in a office? its full of them!

I don't get the point of an i5 with a puny (180W) power supply. Why would you need a heap of processor speed other than for playing games or video editing etc? These types of use presumably need a decent graphics card which can't run on this power supply. I'm not knocking the deal itself but am genuinely confused about which type of user the machine is aimed at?
I was mainly interested in running Photoshop and web design programs, the processor will be great for batch processing and actions without the need for a decent graphics card. Well hopefully anyway?

Maybe the OP is trying to say the PC is fast, but it won't go away or actually move!
Actually was trying to say oomph, just looked up the meaning of omph on urban dictionary and its certainly not what I meant :)
It makes sense, this isn't the father it is the mother(board and rest of your PC) that you receive, and it won't leak as there are no water cooling parts.

Only £351.61 at Dabs (although currently on order i.e. no immediate stock). Dabs also qualifies for the cash-back from hp. If you can trade in then £251.61 (or even £281.55) seems a pretty good deal.
Yes did see that one but was on order and couldn't see a expected date of despatch and the trade-in expires on the 30th June

well I run amd so the voltage isn't really a problem for me and overclocking anything really has a element of risk but usually the risk is pretty low

Yeah read that too about amd being ok with 1.6v too. People saying intel 4xxx cores being the same, then othera saying any penium is ok with 1.6v ... others saying it's really just 1.5v but 1.6v means that's what it can be ran at... you don't know who to believe. With a shortage of "1.6v RAM killed my CPU" stories out there, i'm thinking it makes very little difference in most cases.

Can you Overclock this? Don't know much about RAM so will this be perfectly capable of handling top end software and games?
you probably can but you would have to sacrifice timings plus ram speed makes very little difference so I just leave it as 1600

I just read as much in my research. Read the same for the CL rating (this stuff being CL9) apparently CL10 (slower) doesn't make much difference. Some people seem to have an issue with 1.6V ram, opinions range wildly :| Some saying it's fine and others saying to puts added strain on your cpu, lessens its life, and voids warranties on Intels! What to believe lol.

Also read to stay away from buffered ram unless you're putting it into a server or other dedicated workhorse type machine because it adds latency to varied tasks like gaming. At least I know more about it than I did yesterday thanks to this thread!!

Done some reading and see people saying the 1.65V isn't great for some Intel CPUs.

Do not buy fit 15e's, I have one myself and others have also reported to have a massive build issue involving the wifi. I cannot get good connection if im upstairs and the router is downstairs. Apparently you can fix it by replacing the wifi card, but it requires removing the whole shell to get to it.

My vaio was repaired 3 times due to a light leak on the bezle, Sony later on refunded me as it was classed as a design fault.

a leak?

I got this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HNQXCXG for £360 .. now 399.. apart from average screen with poor viewing angles it is great.
Well... I picked one of these below at Xmas time (with 1TB HDD instead of 750GB):
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-n297sa-15-6-laptop-21921792-pdt.html
They were at £399.
So £529 for a lesser spec (apart from Win8.1Pro), I don't see this as a deal. All you're doing is paying for the Sony logo.
I hope it's gold for that price difference.

Yeah, cheapest I can find now is £133 at MoreComputers

Well, Placed my order Thursday from More. Email yesterday as follows...
"Thanks for placing an order with More Computers for the HP ProLiant G7 Microserver. The stock we have of this particular Microserver doesn't qualify for the cashback offer from HP"

Well done to all who got in early on this deal - now off to organise a bunch returns for RAM and drives also ordered to go with it!

I feel your pain. I have tried re-ordering at Dabs, a little bit more expensive (£124.16) but they state the £100 cashback offer: http://www.dabs.com/products/hp-proliant-microserver-turion-ii-neo-n54l-2-2ghz-2gb-ram-250gb-hdd-8JPK.html

If this doesn't work the drives are going back.

It's probably too late to get the invoice by 31/03/2014.

It's definitely gone now even on dabs.com, they removed the promotion banner.

Got a reply today to say they did receive my claim and it's being processed, email must have not got through because there's nothing in my Gmail inbox or spam from them!

you are welcome :) Good it has come through by post. These guys pay the cashback, unlike some companies trying to shoot you down on minor details, which is bordering on cheating. Once I lost 400+ quid on a carphonewarehouse cashback, which was refused on minor technicality but was actually their own fault. Needless to say I was very crossed but no one listened.

Anyone heard anything about their cashback yet?

Not had an email or anything!

If you applied for it by email, the reply should have come very quickly. By post, not so sure.

if you need to apply by email, read some of the posts above for the mail ID. I would suggest send them an email on that ID, they might get back to you.

Sorry final word..... Cold

Well I knew as an Apple product it would be voted cold, but maybe it helped someone. It's sad the vitriolic, overly opinionated and perhaps jealous sentiment that this site has now attracted.

Apple has been hugely successful and it has created a self evident market position and this I think was a good deal.

This is something I think the mods need to think about as this site evolves, balancing a good deal for a brand vs the no name ' value ' alternatives. No one can say Apple is a low quality brand.

Oh, and BTW rbrookes .. If an Apple support guy in a T-shirt did know the square root of f*** all then you should listen, learn, and appreciate, hard as that might be for you, as one thing is certain ... you don't know it !

Oh I listened and learnt that he was a kid 10 minutes out of college and knew the square root of f*** all. I went into an Apple store with a serious set of questions that were treated with disdain and contempt by the shiny happy brigade who couldn't answer any of them with solid fact.

It's a pity that people pander to their Magpie like needs for a shiny piece of tat through marketing hype and listen to these ill informed 'experts'.

The votes and decreasing share price show that people are boring of Apple and their insular and bullying business practices.

I think their hilarious too mate, those 'geniuses' are classic. I went in there for a laugh stoned as we always do and after asking be of the dunces all spotty and lame if the s3 was a good phone, he pulls out his Samsung and acts cool saying...... I only work here mate, it's money. Hell, we bought popcorn for the laugh home. The fact theirs a 'genius' in store shows how clouded, deluded and nieve these freaks are.

These are the sort of people who go and see the Dyson doctor at John Lewis........

Final word..... Nieve.
Lol @ this deal. Great laugh.....

When ordering web page 6 in stock. Following day web page showed 2 in stock. After another 3 days and my order still not shipped I sent PC World Bus. a message no reply. Next day I phoned them only to be told out of stock. By which time other offers at Currys etc had finished.
