    Are they really 2300mAh?

These seem like the Energizer alkaline rechargeable batteries. If true, you'd need a special charger for those.

Yes really 2300 --- and thats GOOD.
Because when you check the deal, you'll find that they are for "Low Self Discharge" batteries (ReCyko). These are typically 2300 for AA. But you can charge them, and next month, when you need them, they'll still have most of 2300 available. Quite unlike higher capacity, charge everytime immediately before use batteries. You can even use these in alarm clocks and remote controls ...

ADDED - you do *not* need a 'special' charger. Any NiMH charger will do.

    Hot.
But the poster should have noted LSD/ReCyko in the deal title.
Shame my nearest stock is the other side of the Thames estuary!

They are low self discharge Metal hydride, a standard NIMH charger will be fine, but avoid rapid <1hr chargers if you want them to last.

Here's the previous post for this deal :- http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/gp-reckyo-2050mah-low-self-discharge-aa-rechargeable-batteries-2-97-currys-pc-world-1269908#post15126229

The ones I received were 2050 if I recall correctly.

Watch out for really old packs, as there's a post about some not taking a full charge:- Sanyo used to recommend recharging their Eneloop LSD batteries at least once per year.

Very good batteries, cheapest I've seen. I find that these last much longer in actual practice than 2800mAH standard NiMH batteries, as they haven't gone half-discharged when you come to need them.
But it's the usual problem. No stock in Birkenhead, it's a 26-mile round-trip for the nearest. Not interested. Still, I can at least find out easily on-line.

Got 2 packs last week in Bedford. Both PC world and Currys had loads on display.

last time I bought 8 of them and my gp charger(4 years old) wont charge them. It keep saying - battery error take of battery.
I wont be complaining to GP company cos I paid 3£ all together but still, something is not ok. You better check them straight after purchasing as I didn't touched mine for first month.

None at my local PC World, but getting one pack at the Curry's next door - making me go 45 miles if I wanted more than 1 pack. Don't need them that badly!
