Because when you check the deal, you'll find that they are for "Low Self Discharge" batteries (ReCyko). These are typically 2300 for AA. But you can charge them, and next month, when you need them, they'll still have most of 2300 available. Quite unlike higher capacity, charge everytime immediately before use batteries. You can even use these in alarm clocks and remote controls ...
ADDED - you do *not* need a 'special' charger. Any NiMH charger will do.
Hot.
But the poster should have noted LSD/ReCyko in the deal title.
Shame my nearest stock is the other side of the Thames estuary!

The ones I received were 2050 if I recall correctly.
Watch out for really old packs, as there's a post about some not taking a full charge:- Sanyo used to recommend recharging their Eneloop LSD batteries at least once per year.

Are they really 2300mAh?
Yes, they are, got some from the last post. Well worth the price.
But it's the usual problem. No stock in Birkenhead, it's a 26-mile round-trip for the nearest. Not interested. Still, I can at least find out easily on-line.
No they are not that type
I wont be complaining to GP company cos I paid 3£ all together but still, something is not ok. You better check them straight after purchasing as I didn't touched mine for first month.
Just reserved some in the Romford store, seem to have more stock there too.............
