Reason I said "On" Amazon is that there are a couple of sellers at this price, but both are fulfilled by Amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B010Q4OX70/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

I've got this exact model if anyone wants to know anything. This is the cheapest it's ever been.

£99.99 if direct from amazon

Indeed it is, which just shows how good a price this is.

With smartwatch sales plummeting I can see the prices of these things following suit soon.

I've been on the fence with these watches and can't seem to justify them yet.
The function I would ideally like from them are:
# a decent tracking on heart rate constantly (health and exercise to track calories burn etc),
# over 2 days battery life,
# able to put apps on it so it can do clever training games etc.,
# able to recharge on a cradle etc without taking the face or straps off or plugging a wire in

Ive only found Fitbit latest one and perhaps pebble 2 to be able to do something close to that but still no way near perfect...

Sadly, I would have to agree, although Pebble do seem committed to the next generation of these devices with the "2" models all due to come out - I think the Pebble Classic 2 is already out to buy.

This model of pebble will get you a good 5 days of battery life easily. With standby mode being enabled, where it basically 'shuts down' if it's immobile for 30 minutes or more, it extends the battery life rather nicely.

The app store is pretty decent for these as well, and as far as a charging cradle goes, you can get this so i don't know if that counts ..

The Garmins do most of this although I would call them more a running/training watch with some smartwatch features rather than a smartwatch with full fitness features. Mine suits me perfectly (running/cycling with GPS and smart notifications)

It might have been cheaper second hand but I can't personally remember seeing the time model any cheaper than this for a new item.

But yes, it's also likely to be about on Black Friday, but it remains to be seen if it's cheaper than this. If it is, i might pick one up as a spare in case mine dies :)

How do these do in terms of functionality with I phone? I'm looking at the pebble time round, but not sure if I can read full text etc

I have the Pebble time steel. I really wanted the round but the battery life on the round is only 2 days (vs 10 on the steel) and the round isn't waterproof. I think the resolution is the same though. As for the text, depends on what you want to read. You can adjust the size though (at least on the notifications) and I have this at maximum. I don't have an iPhone but the functionality is almost as good as what you get through Android, which basically does everything you realistically need from a smart watch.

Think I got super unlucky, but i've had pretty bad luck with Pebbles so far... First Pebble was ok, but a bit too plasticky so replaced it with a Pebble steel which I loved but that had a screen defect, then the replacement bootlooped after a good 2 months as my main watch. Then pre-ordered Pebble Time 2 and they slapped on an extra tax charge then delivery charge bumping it to a slightly ridiculous price so cancelled that order.

Then only 2 weeks ago relented and bought a 'used - very good' Pebble Time red off the Amazon Warehouse; that had the problem where when you charge it, it goes immediately to 100%. Gave it a good hour on the charge anyway, gave the charging contacts a clean like suggested online, then seemed to be working fine... it then died from 100% to 0% within 12 hours..! I really liked the colour display etc but tried another charge and the same thing happened, will have to return it to Amazon.

When they work on the other hand they're awesome, but I think I've been so unlucky with them so far that I'll wait until the Pebble Time 2 is out and has had some time to bed in before trying Pebble again..!

I've had the Time model with my iPhone for a few years now and they're great. I travel on public transport a lot and it's a godsend for controlling the music player mainly, but also for getting alerts for emails, texts e.t.c..

If you're rammed in on a bus or a train, it's not always possible to keep fishing your phone out of your pocket every time it bleeps so a quick look at your wrist and you're good to go.

These do have a bigger screen than the round and also a better battery - i think the round only lasts around 2 days.

don't know about the sleep monitor as i've never used it, but whatsapp is fine - the rule of thumb is that if an app has notifications enabled, you'll see them on the watch - i get my whatsapp notifications through just fine.

I find it handy as at work I can't have my phone out, but I can read my texts as they come in using the watch. Battery lasts on average 3 days. It has voice so you can send quick voice replies. I can reject calls and ignore messages that are not important which means more time with my kids and less time unlocking my phone to see what the message was. Don't like having to take the watch off to charge it. It's a pain. I bought this watch when it first came out and I used to continually miss calls from customers. The vibrate on the watch is great at notifying me who's calling. I can't see why you'd need a smart watch if you have no need of the latter

Got one 4 myself 10months ago, now I can't wait for time 2 which is huge upgrade: metal, smaller bezels, higher res and screen, 10 days battery, HR monitor. If you get pebble time now, you might regret not waiting for time 2.

Yes but UK retail for Time 2 is £180.

True, but it's because it's brand new. Give it a year to 18 months and it'll be down around the £100 mark I suspect.

Still, I'm putting in my pre-order for the Time 2 in the next few days either way :)
