Just received this email saying Fitbit has acquired Pebble
Pebble is joining Fitbit
Fitbit has agreed to acquire key Pebble assets. Due to various factors, Pebble can no longer operate as an independent entity, and we have made the tough decision to shut down the company. The deal finalized today preserves as much of Pebble as possible.
•All unfulfilled pebble.com orders will be canceled and—if payment was taken—refunded.
Guess we won't be getting the Pebble 2 then :|
Guessing not, just received an email.

It does depend what you need. Some other smartwatches do lots of other gimmicky stuff, which is fun for a day or two but after that.....
I only need notifications, and I get all notifications (not some), it's good to be able to read the watch in sunlight etc, and my time does do Sunday to Sunday on a charge. It actually can do a lot more than that, and I have tried some of the stuff out but I don't need any of it. Having said that, it is a good Endomondo or Runkeeper client.
I am tempted by the Round and this is a good price compared to usual, but it would need to come down a bit more for me to buy.
Hot for the price.
I bought the Pebble for £60 about a year ago after a deal I saw here. A few months ago I bought the Pebble Time for £80 from another deal.

Time Round is probably the best Pebble ever, but has a smaller battery then the Time (which already struggles to reach 5 days). The other trouble is, while we Pebble lovers talk loud and proud about the battery life, we only mumble incoherently about the fact that it..... errr... Doesnt actually do that much :( Some notifications, setting the Nest Thermostat and changing track on the music, but not much else of any use ....So for the same money as a 2nd gen Moto 360 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/motorola-moto-360-sport-2nd-gen-android-smartwatch-black-159-99-foniacs_uk-ebay-2435209 I'm not sure I could recommend this...

It is a good price for the Time Round though :)

I've been looking around on the Pebble website and stumbled across https://apps.getpebble.com/en_US/watchapps which I assume is the App store? Don't know how I got there, it wasn't well signposted. Apart from Pebble's own website does anyone know any good Pebble forums please?

I've been a Pebble wearer for 2 years. I got a black classic, loved it, then spotted the Pebble Time Kickstarter campaign in Feb 2015.
I really wanted colour screen & voice replies so backed it.

I got my black Pebble Time in late May 2015 and couldn't be happier with it (before anyone pipes up, I've not been paid by Pebble, I don't work for them and I've worn it 24/7, except for taking it off for a few hours every 5 days to charge it). So far it is undamaged, no scratches, scuffs or chips. It's certainly been tested too as I work in a school for children with special needs, they can display VERY challenging behaviour so it's had a fair bit of kicking around!

There are several Pebble forums, but the best by far it's Pebble Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pebble/

Along with help from other Pebble users, Pebble support partially/unofficially monitors that forum, so it's a great place to post problems

Again, I don't think that's possible without having a pebble and having a pebble account but I might be wrong. I think the only way to find out is to ask in forums or search the web
It's frustrating, I'm used to being able to at least look and consider the options but there don't seem to be a lot of places who sell Pebbles let alone where you can look beforehand. On another tack, is there any way of checking the apps in the Pebble App store when I haven't got a Pebble yet so that I can see what there is?

I'm interested in the Pebble Time Round as it's the first smartwatch which looks as though it would be suitable for a lady's wrist. But I can only judging by what I can see on the internet. Does anyone know of anywhere (in the UK) where you can actually go and see before you buy? Looks like Currys, for example, only have them to order online?

I was wondering the same thing but I don't think any retailers have the watch for you to try on in store. I've recently bought the time round and it looks and feels amazing on the wrist
