Seems like a good camera according to this review and this review

Kit lens aren't the best apparently but the competition isn't a whole lot better:
"Performance is okay in the centre of the frame, but detail softens considerably towards the edges and some pretty strong chromatic aberration creeps in. Only Sony's 18-70mm kit lens is worse than this. Canon's 18-55mm is marginally better and Nikon's 18-55 is better still."

Better be quick. The £50 cashback ends tomorrow (15/04/2009). The test report on Megapixels gives 9.9/10 for camera and lens, higher than Canon and Nikon.

Pentax is the better camera if you like to work manually and not just in auto/program mode. The view finder is large and manual focus ring is much better. Front lens element doesn't rotate and filter is a standard 52mm.

You will find it hard to get an equivalent from another make with two lenses for £329.

My impression is that Olympus kit lenses are good, not Pro standard but good. Just that the high ISO performance of Olympus isn't great. The Olympus E-420 Double Zoom Kit (14-42mm & 40-150mm lens) should be available for £380 (or less) as Olympus have just release 2 or 3 DSLRs. I have not used the E420, but have used a number of other Olympus DSLRs and think they are great.

Not voted as I haven't used this camera. If considering a DSLR - see if you can go to a shop and see if you like how it feels, and also have a good look at the accessories that are available, especially the range of lenses.

very, very good deal.

I managed to squeeze this for £300 from Curry's before. Had it reduced to 350 with both lenses, cashback took it to 300. WOuld highly recommend this piece of kit.

One thing to note, this is a small form factor DSLR. Always best to go try handling it in the shop, always a personal preference when it comes to buying decent kit. The build quality of the body is excellent and the engine (if tweaked properly) produces excellent results. There really is little to critique this camera on at that price and the beginner market its aimed for.

it's now 15/04/2009 has the cashback ended or can you still get it if you buy today?

How does this work if buying on line? If buying today will you receive an invoice with today's date?

Finally I note that PC World have the same deal (but none in stock for Click and Collect) which would be better e.g. quicker delivery, more reliable etc? Cheers

Just make sure that the invoice is dated 15/04/2009 (which it should be even if bought online and delivery is later). If in doubt, why not ring Currys..
