Sorry chaps but this has been posted previously, I then posted the deal myself and it was removed as it has already been posted!

So I guess you need to moderate yourselves, I'll find the original thread for you.... :)

This is very strange, I can no longer find the original thread were this deal was posted! I even posted in the original thread to appoligise for posting the same deal after emmajk42 deleted my thread!!

Hi

I have removed your post as it is a duplicate of the above offer.

Regards, Emma.

I have searched through all the threads I've posted in and I still can't find it?? How strange????

Thanks 50p :) I searched and couldn't find. However, it went back down to this price this morning.

Hmm... Any idea about when it was posted?
#7
Yeah found that one, but it's from a different retailer :)

Nope it wasn't that one, it had many more comments.

Anyway it's no big deal, if it's not there now it's not there!

Nope, not really...... I posted the deal on the 8th May and emma deleted it the same day as someone had linked to the original deal.

Any reviews on the camera. How would it compare with the likes of the Canon 350D?

I'm a real dslr newbie but am really interested in getting one for future design projects.

The K110D is the same as the K100D but without the antishake. Its a great dslr for the money, offering probably the best noise/iso ratio in its price range. Personally id rather have one of these than the 350D. But everyone is different!

Just bought it last week. The handling is terrible in my opinion. The grip is to small, it's rather heavy for it size and the buttons are very stiff. For some reason it just doesn't feel right in my hands. I'm sending it back and I guess I'll have to live with my Nikon D50 for another while.
#13
Thanks for the added info kemot1984

But if anyone wants to give it a go, you can get the K100d (same thing, but with image stabilisation) for the same price here. It's Pentax refurbished (it will be packed like new with 12 warranty.

You can also get the previous model, *ist DL2 for £249.99 (refurbished too) here.

Delivery in both cases is £7.99 (or you can pick it up if you live in London), but the company is very reputable.

Ooooo why do you want to upgrade your D50? I've read nothing but glowing reports for the Nikon:)
#16
Not really upgrade. I've just had it for a while now and I love changes :)

I'm planning to buy the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. It's really good. I currently have the Sigma 18-200mm, but it's not very sharp.

Sure:
1. Brand new D50 + 18-55mm kit lens for £299.99 here
2. Brand new D50 + 18-55mm kit lens + 1GB SD card + UV filter + 3 years warranty for £349.99 here

Great deal. I have the higher spec K10D which I plumped for after a lot of research and testing. But from everything I've read, the K110D is an excellent beginner DSLR.

You will also have to remaster the best shooting settings again (assuming you've mastered them already). A poor idea if you ask me, but whatever floats your boat.

I think the deal for K100D I mentioned above is even better. Same price, but you get image stabilisation (at the expense of £7.99 delivery charge).

Ok guys i may aswell ask here. I have never used a dslr before but really want to get one. I am just about to graduate from my graphic design degree and really would like to take some original imagery in the future. What would you honestly recommend as a first camera for me to try and how would i learn how to use it effectively?

The newer Nikon D40 with a very user friendly interface might just be the ideal DSLR for you - I have one and love it

Best £330 you'll ever spend ;-)

I'd recommend D40 too:

You can get it for £329 here:
http://www.jessops.com/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?SkuId=47076
if you use the code JDCLSJ015

That's cheapest deal for D40 I could find around.

How do you find the K10D?
Been hoping to get one one day to replace my old Super A !

thanks for your help folks. Great pics by the way!!!

Personally I would also look at the canon 400d. It costs a little more but it has some features that are worth the extra.

The main thing to keep in mind is that once you start buying lenses you will be tied into that manufacturer when it comes to upgrading the camera body. When you can easily spend over £1000 on a decent lens you want to make sure you chose a brand you are happy with.

That is a very good point indeed. When I bought my first dSLR camera I actually went to a shop and played for a while with the more serious stuff by different manufacturers. I knew that in a couple of years time I'd upgrade and I want to make sure that in the future I will still be happy with the brand I chose for my entry dSLR. We can have this thread as long as you like, talking about why Nikon is better/worse that Canon, etc. but in the end of the day some people love one, some people love the other and for very good reasons - they are both excellent brands. You'll have to see for yourself which one just feels right for you. Never buy a camera over the internet without first checking it out properly in a high street shop. Specs on paper is not all.
#31
Actually Id recommend getting a 2nd hand film slr (an old one that doesnt require any power other than for the light meter) from ebay for peanuts and learn how to use a camera properly :) This is well worth it i assure you.
#32
Surely the development of film to understand your mistakes would end up costly and time comsuming only to upgrade to a digital SLR in the end?
#33
I learned photography on a dSLR by just forcing myself to use manual mode all the time.
#34
I have been looking at the Nikon D40 aginst the Canon EOS400

Can anyone advise me on which is the best?

Thanks for that, i have already done that and i did favour the Canon with the weight. What i was asking was peoples thoughts between the 2 cameras. !!!!!:?

Its truely a great camera, the thing that has surprised me most is the short time its taken me to master things. Testament to the cameras function and navigation I think.

Viewfinder is nice and bright, which I notice so much more when I look through my friends Canon 30D which in comparison is very dull.

Main thing is to get down to a local camera shop and try differnet models out - I'm extremely glad I did, rather than blindly being persuaded by the Canon/Nikon marketing machines!

Well for a start the D40 can be had for a considerable £131 less than the 400D.

If you liked the extra weight of the 400D then consider Nikon's earlier entry level model, the D50, for £150 less than the 400D.

That saving pays for some of a second lens or a good bag + memory cards + filters etc.

Any of them will produce great shots. The creativity is from the user not the tool ;)
