Its been 329.99 at Argos for a while, except for a couple of months ago they reduced it to £319.99 when I bought it. Also got £10 voucher.

Great DSLR for the price.

Be warned though it will most probably be the K2000 (which I received) which is the US version but exactly the same model. Most likely why its the cheapest around.

Still miles cheaper than the Hong Kong stuff on ebay !! Good deal.

Don't know about this particular deal but...just bought a refurbished canon 1000d ('rebel xs' in the states) for £300 from the Canon outlet on ebay - comes with 12 month warranty. They (canon) were fantastic, as I originally ordered the wrong camera kit (1000d body, but no image stabilisation on the lens), they sent a courier to pick it up without charge - same day pick up, and I bought the 1000d kit with the image stabilisation lens.

Anyway if you're looking for a DSLR at a reasonable price, you can do worse than checking out the canon outlet on ebay IMO.

Cheap lower end Canons are really cheap plasticy horrible things. Stick with Nikon or Pentax for a far more solid feel.

Strange you compare the Pentax to the Olympus e420. They are quite different cameras. The e420 has live-view, is 4/3 format, much smaller than any dslr, and you can use Leica lenses. I'm not saying the Olympus is better because I like Pentax cameras, they are just nor comparable.

You're buying into a system, as those who are experienced will already know. Beginners are best to consider future potential purchases before deciding on which brand of camera to buy.

Me, well I've got loads of 35mm Pentax gear already. So when I buy a DSLR it will no doubt be a Pentax, as they have backward compatibility.

I've used them before (camcorder) and was really disappointed that the unit they sent me was faulty. Returned for a refund. Although they eventually gave me my money back, they at first tried to insist that I sent it away to be repaired.

This is true, the Canons are plasticy. It's a well known fact and widely shared opinion. The Pentax units are solid and some models are much smaller than the "average" DSLR too, an important factor when you realise just how big DSLRs can be (although I think the low end Canons are not too big).

On the deal itself, pretty good, as it probably cannot be bought cheaper. A great unit to start DSLR photography with, plenty of cheap 2nd hand lenses available (all the old Pentax K etc lenses from the 80's onwards for example).

I can personally recommend Pentax, my 5 year old DS is still going strong, as is my 20+ year old SFX-n! and the lenses...
