The Optio E80 digital compact camera is the new entry-class model from Pentax. It offers a large 2.7 inch colour LCD monitor and simplified operation to enhance image-viewing comfort and operability.

The Optio E80 comes equipped with a host of user-friendly features and functions to make high-quality digital photography effortless, even for first-time digital camera users. These include the use of world-standard AA-size batteries as a power source, large, easy-to-press control buttons, and the Pentax original Auto Picture mode that automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode for a given subject or scene. It also delivers high-resolution still images thanks to its 10.0 effective megapixels, as well as high definition movie clips (equivalent to 720p at 15 fps) making high-quality digital photography available to everyone.

I'm asking that too if anyone knows????

Is this a good camera - never used Pentax.

This camera is fairly new (only released in August) so not many reviews if any yet.

Pentax are a good make

I need a camera also, not sure what to go for our Casio Exlim is always firing the flash in any light condition (goes off if we disable it)
#8
solid make and good price

Sorry for deviating slightly off topic, but has CDiscount stopped the 3 easy payments when you spend £100+

I was wanting to purchase a camera yesterday, but it didn't offer the 3 payments option so didn't bother. I don't see that option today either. :?:

Cheap camera and good value! HD video mode is 720p but at only 15fps.

wicked heat

Doesn't have a battery to charge so will spend a fortune on buying AA's...

Thanks just ordered

720p at only 15fps doesn't sound good!
#15
Looks like a good price, don't know much about the brand

Pentax used to be a good camera brand and I think they probably still are, but the reviews I have read in the past on Pentax digital cameras are only average. Then again, this is a cheap camera and will probably do what you want it to for the money.

I have one personally and one owned by my workplace. My own needed a repair as it stopped working on holiday suddenly without warning.
The work one has been ok but colleagues who use the same have had problems. 9 out of 15 had shutter problems and had to be repaired, 2 of them 3 times!
I will buy a Canon again when I need to renew.

I recommend Panasonic FS7, FS15 or Canon IXUS95.
Pentax have gone down hill since they were sold to Hoya.

All good cameras, Panasonic probably have the best range of compacts on the market. However, what do you base your comments about Pantax on? While I don't think they ever have been very strong players in the compct market they appear to be more than holding their own in DSRLs with cameras like the K20D and new K7, see the review here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk7/
