Could someone tell me how this compares to the Sony DSC-T2. Not sure which one to go far now this has come in at such a good price for a 12mp camera?
#3
Just bought one last week for my daughters birthday for £89.99 from Comet then saw it was £79.99 on Amazon, can't belive it has dropped to £69.99 - Bargain excellent camera.
Now bought from Amazon with 8gb memory card and case for £84.00. I'll be taking it straight round to comet for a refund when it arrives.

I have just ordered one to replace my 5yr old Canon Ixus 2 which recently decided it didn't want to work anymore. (I was very pleased with it until then).
Amazon also gave me free next day delivery, so l'm looking forward to tomorrow immensely.

Heat and rep added, thank you for the posting.

great camera for price but is 12mp of any use with compact camera as noise tends to increase with 12mp on such a small chip and at 12mp lens also must be limiting factor as well voted hot though cant go wrong for price

4 MP is more than enough unless you are printing them in A2

Top deal, was thinking of buying this for £90 from comet but now its down to £70 im tempted, looks prity snazzy, doesn't have image stabilisation but the rest is fairly good..

thanks, looks very good to me for the price

12mp is just wast of memory card space unless you have large image chip and top quality lens ie SLR + expensive lens . But still is realy good cam for price disregarding 12 mp rubbish still may impress some people

Voted hot. Especially for good battery provided. Had a bad experience with canon in a deal with good picture quality but abysmal battery life. I am presuming its battery would be good considering rechargeable Li-Ion and not AA or AAA. Good deal. Most of cameras have decent picture quality for quick photos and general users. Battery life matters a lot though for such users.

says 4 different colours?
where can I change the choice of colour?

Nice bargain, I've got the 5mp version of this camera (S5N) from long ago and it's still a great camera, very very cheap for all the extra megapixels :-D

I have noticed this has had some bad reviews on Amazon. Has anyone else experience the same as Mike has? He claims the camera is blurry in certain light conditions.

The 1 star review you should ignore, the bloke is clearly on crack.
The Pentax cameras are very decent point n shooters. Like all compacts they have to be held still (as do the subjects) at night to get decent light into the night shots.

I really like my Optio S4.

I'm just waiting for Compacts to go a quantum leap in low light ability then I will buy a new one.

Other than that, for 69 quid, this is silly cheap for a really decent little camera. I wouldn't agonize over it for 69 quid tbh.

Hi all
would the Canon Powershot A590 be a better camera than this?
thankyou for advice

Decided to go for one, thanks OP.

Looks a great deal but I'm a bit cautious about the batteries it takes. I guess u have to buy a spare or does it also take conventional ones ?

it uses 1 of these rechargable battery packs:

http://i42.tinypic.com/2njeuyt.jpg

will last for quite a while, camera comes with a charger for it so you wont need a spare.

a review comparing small camera can be seen here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408slimgroup/

this camera comes 3rd/4th in the 9 camera's tested, the only 2 that beat it are Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 which is £160 ish and the Canon IXUS 90 which i cant find on normal sites but is only some dodgy sites on froogle for £130 ish.

So for this price the camera is a steal. I'd love the panasonic, especially for the 720p recording but wont pay more than £80 for a point and shoot camera.

Perfect for mum.... gone for this, thanks.

How long do these batteries last.. I guess it depends on the amount of pics that need flash etc. Anybody got any figures

Ordered mine yesterday and it arrived 9am this morning. Have just unpacked it and put the battery on charge. 1st impressions are it is very neat, slim, compact and solidly made.
Also Amazon put a £40 Virgin wine voucher in the box for me........nice!

I plan to take a walk later and will take it with me across the fields of snow later.

is there a minimum spend on that wine voucher?

are you using amazon prime for delivery or did u pay extra for next day delivery? cant see amazon giving you £40, surely there must be a £70 min spend or something.

Yes I am using Amazon prime and I have now checked out the Virgin wine voucher, the minimum spend is £79.99 excluding delivery charge. Voucher is valid for one month.
I will post voucher details in the correct place too.

I hope this answers your questions.

ahh, yeah vouchers like that are given all the time, given with dvd rental companies too, they still make profit after the voucher, if it was a £40 freebie it would have been ace but unfortunately its just a normal voucher.

get taking some photos and upload them to tinypic.com and send us them, mabye photos of the snow if it hasnt melted where you are.

nope. 7mp is the min needed for good quality photos, 4mp looks pretty poor. 12mp looks nice, here is an example photo from a review of this camera: http://a.img-dpreview.com/reviews/Q408slimgroup/samples/realworld/wide/pentaxS12_IMGP0037.JPG

there's no way a 4mp could capture as much detail as that. If you are printing a 6"x4" photo then it wont make much difference but on A4 with a good printer you will see, and on a 1080p monitor the difference will be big.

here are 4 photos i took with this camera, received it today, they are zipped (12mb): http://www.sendspace.com/file/8r5mf1

photo IMGP0042.jpg will be re-compressed as i rotated it to vertical. I'm very happy with the quality, these photos were taken in low light btw, the sky is full of grey clouds.
