Exactly. I bought an original release copy of Ico (cardboard case with collector cards inside) for PS2 for about £8. I've kept it in its shrinkwrap. Now fetches something like £90-£149 on eBay.

Wow! That's an utterly incredible price. I truly wish my PS2 was in working order as i'd snap it up. People are already finding this game hard to find.
#4
i was on gamespot.com last week and one of the ads had this in its banner, so i thought it was a new game, i think its coming out on the nintendo ds??

hmm http://uk.ps2.ign.com/objects/142/14241813.html says the ps2 one came out in 2009... no ds game... anyway game has a 9 score out of 10 :D

Been playing an Import copy of this on and off for a few weeks, absolutely love it, so have ordered this one to compliment my shelf of PS2 RPG's :)
Many thanks to the OP for this find, I spoted it last night/ this morning when you originally posted it, but was unwilling to type a responce (achievement scoring on the 360 see, lol.)
Quality game at am awesome price, get it while you can.

Yeah, our BC-enabled PS3s are software emu (not HW emu like the US ones are). I'm almost certain this will run on our PS3s, as it was developed when the PS3 was already commercially available, so PS3-compatibility was most definitely something that was ensured by Atlus.

this is meant to be a good game

Is this turn based and aint there an FES edition coming out?

I have a shelf of RPG's too. I love em. Even kept PS1 classics too. (A la Final Fantasy 7)

Just recently bought a slimline silver PS2 from game to play all the RPG's again both PS1 and PS2 :)

Shadow Hearts/Grandia/Wild Arms/Alundra/FF's/Star Ocean/Dragon Quest 8

Ahhh *Happy sigh* :-D

I'm 99% sure that Gamecentral (Teletext) said there was not going to be an FES version. They're big fans of the series.

Based on sit69's experience with ICO, I'm tempted to get two of these, one to play, one to hold onto and sell!

That's my plan. I'm buying this one from Play in addition to the one I bought off SoftUK last week.
#18
What other REPG would you say this is similar too? SoA maybe?

Ordered, cheers for the headsup

Lol, I did that with Valkyrie profile and Odin Spehere on the PS2, they are sat on my shelf next to my two stashed SNES games, Terranigma and a signed (by Miyamoto) copy of Zelda: LttP :)
Think this will be going next to it also.

I haven't played Skies. I had every intention to, and I have a shrink-wrapped copy for the Gamecube lying around somewhere. Anyway, i've decided to leave it as it is as i've got way too much other stuff in my Pile of Shame to get onto.

But from what I understand of Skies, the combat part of Persona 4 would be similar to Skies -- however there's an entirely other part to Persona, which is the leveling-up part. A lot of that occurs in doing daily activities in a separate "daytime reality".... Wiki explains it by saying it's essentially part dating-sim.

I couldn't resist opening Terranigma when I eventually found a copy. It was hidden away in a dusty cupboard in Woolworths of Morecambe with a £59.99 price tag. It wasn't listed on their system anymore so they accepted a £15 gesture for it.

Sold it at Uni for beer money - doh!

n00b!!
I bought mine from "Future Zone" thats how long ago, it is unsealed, I wanted to play it, but it is very good condition, think I bought that (£9.99) and Secret of Evermore (£19.99) on the same day, eventually sod Evermore, coz it is rubbish compared to Mana, but always hung on to Terranigma, and now with good reason, have seen them go for anything upwards of £100 on the bay!!

Its similar to Shin Megami Tensei if its anything like Persona 3.

That is randomised dungeons you fight through in a turn based stylee.

But i assume its going to follow Persona 3 and you actually only take direct control of the main character the rest you just set to a tactic similar to final fantasy 12.
Then theres the social side of things where you make friends and chat to people which level up your monsters who let you do different special moves (elemental attacks, healing and the like)

Its a site based game so theres no roaming a big massive map in vehicles etc.
you can go from area to area in the social bit buying stuff and talking to people upgrading your equipment and stuff, these little areas you get to explore.
When you hit the dungeons theres a stairs up and a lot of random rooms.

Its good fun and persona 3 timed it really well without the amount of combat and amount of story you got to do.

I have my doubts that Odin sphere and valkyrie profile will hit the heights of collectability somehow ; )

Well I can attest to shadow hearts and final fantasy's 6-9 the others are just a bit meh really ; ) (although I haven't given wild arms a go yet) I was also thoroughly dissapointed by Rogue Galaxy but heyho such is life.

Not as 'noob' as selling the 2 copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga i've owned over the years. My Secret of Evermore is long since gone too. Still have Mana knocking about though.

Wow, how naughty, this was 17.99 last week when it came out and you think it's going to be rare and collectable? If you're really going to buy one as an investment, make sure to buy one to play as well as it's a great game. Played and completed the American version so I'm hesitant to buy the same thing again :P
