In need of a descent sub soon. A good price for the Yam so hot.
I used to buy BK components years ago but never speakers. A phone call to BK said they don't supply to the trade but also didn't have any sound rooms within their premises. This was a little disappointing as I can only go on word of mouth despite living very close to them.

Interestingly (or not), I have a Yamaha YST-SW800 which was an absolute monster (18Hz), until it stopped working. Took it to an Amplifier repair shop and he fitted some new bits but they blew straight away, appears to be a serious design flaw in it.

Anyhow the guy recommended buying a new "Back Plane" amplifier from BK, to replace the Yamaha one, I think the board costs about £160 but it's what I'm gonna do when I get time.
Not a lot of reviews for these. I have the smaller version (ns sw200), paid £129. Have to say it's great and produces a sound that belies its size. Wanted a sub that sounded good with music and film whilst being unobtrusive (keeps the wife happy!).
Build quality is excellent and a nice bonus is the trigger link to my receiver which powers it up/down in unison with the amp.
Did look at this one but was a little large for my needs. Good price though.
I'd third it, lol. I bought a BK Gemini in wood finish of a forum for this price. it replace a pioneer speak set subwoofer and it is perfect. British made in Southend I believe. I would spend the extra if you can, but yes this is a good deal as I was looking at this as an alternative.
I'd second BK subs too although this is the cheapest price if you actually want one of these anyway

Yes Yamaha receivers are great but not for every one because they try to create natural sound. But hot for me.
I agree. Yamaha was recommend by various staff, however, the one particular model I compared to a Sony AVR didn't even come close in sound quality.
Faithful reproduction of painstakingly crafted sounds, without colouration, is the objective of an accurate AV receiver, surely? I'd not go for either of those brands for a receiver personally though lol
I run mine straight through, just with basic Pro Logic IIx normally. The preprogrammed sound fields offered by both Sony and Yamaha really aren't my thing at all. The natural sound thing is something that I don't have on when using my amp. TBH, having spent ages playing with various settings, I just don't like any of the synthetic stuff really. The only exception to that is when I steam music via Chromecast, at which point my amp has a setting to help with this, and that works an absolute treat.
You right but Yamaha making a lot of musical instruments and company philosophy is build on clear natural sound. Yes its dull just like sound from expensive hi-fi.

Ordered one to replace an older Yamaha RVX377 it's a much needed upgrade and love the ability to control it over wifi

How do you guys hide the wires

Personally as I am redecorating and getting new carpets in every room anyway, I am planning to get PVC skirting board with cable conduit, running the cables around the room through that.

I had one of these for 24 hours and hated it.
The sound was very boomy and it had no proper bass & trebble control over it.
Luckily Richer sounds had a good returns policy.
We paid £120 for the Roth Bar 3 when it was on offer at Tesco's. If you can get it on offer somewhere it's well worth spending the extra money, as it makes a huge difference having a sub woofer.
I paid about £60 in Tesco a while back. I got it just for bluetooth music in bedroom, but if I wanted a soundbar for a TV I'd be majorly disappointed.
I had the first sub zero and took it back. Fair better off with the yamaha yas101 at this price.

Worst part is, they 'forgot' to put it on the right collection so it's not going to be delivered on Saturday, I have to wait the whole damn weekend.

Plus I can't cancel it now it's been dispatched.

Ahh no! Shame, I always prefer to get something like this in-store (easier for returns should anything go wrong) but I noticed Richer Sounds had emailed a discount voucher out so decided to share it... Sorry it was just too late for you!

Haha, I'm always unlucky with this kind of thing! Lesson learned. Cheers anyway, it'll definitely help someone! :)

Check the dimensions - they're bigger than they look in the picture (to me at least!).

Bigger than Cambridge Audio S30s for instance.
Closer to Wharfedale diamond 9.1s than 9.0s.
logy
Different and conflicting specifications (sensitivity, frequency response, impedance) in the marketing blurb, the specification bullets on Peter Tyson, and the product page on Amazon.com.

Who to believe?

Teac's Datasheet says: 8 ohms, 86dB/m.

Perhaps I just don't understand speakers.

Sorry misread your post...

I'd say the fact sheet from Teac is pretty safe to go with.

£6 dearer at Sevenoaks Sound and Vision!
Sorry but I sent mine back and exchanged for a pioneer.
Upgraded from Onkyo and Denon was dreadful.
Ended up with pioneer SC2022 @£399.
Which is fantastic for me set up with Monitor Audio Apex package.
Depends on budget and listening preferences.
My set up is 80/20 movies, if it were 80/20 music the Denon then could be a better option.
There is a balance/trade off to be found with an AV receiver

Also check out the returns procedure/policy as Peter Tyson hasn't got the best record on this

LOUGHBORO GUY
Isn't onkyo cheaper ?

Should be for an unheard of brand, buy a sony instead.

Onkyo are a well known brand in AV circles, and have been for years. Most of their models are THX certified!

Any idea if the sound quality is similar to the RX-V673, features seem the same but I don't need 7.1.
. Another (even cheaper) model here.
Yes but that has no network features or airplay (for the apple fans) and is generally not as good
Another (even cheaper) model here.
glad to hear you was joking in inicholson, enjoy the sound! I to have a surround sound with a Yamaha amp, Sony is very over rated, amps, CD, DVD, TV you pay for the Sony name, the only thing they do well is a games machine? or so I am tol?
The eBay one has only 1 year warranty ,where as if you buy direct off there site ,you get 2 years (I have email from salesman)
