Does anyone know if this would power a microwave, for caravan use?
Thank you.

You're welcome.

For this pic I used Windows 7's "snipping tool", available on the program list. I just snipped the pic from the online netto catalogue then uploaded it to photobucket using my free account, then pasted the photobucket link into my post.

;-)

If you don't have Windows 7, simply use alt/prtscrn and paste the result into Microsoft Paint

I'm sure I heard somewhere that even a 650w microwave draws over 1kw at startup

dont quote me though

You would get away we a 550w micro ,cost about £80

search for caravan microwave on ebay

but pretty much everything else would need to be switched off

and I would imagine that this generator will be fairly noisy compared to the higher end models

A microwave with 550w output will draw well in excess of 650w.

The advert does not state whether the 650w rating is running watts or starting watts. So you can't be sure that it will deliver 650 w continually.

As I say you would "get away" with,it will depend how sensitive the cut out is

Whitbyfish, I don't think that you have grasped the fact that microwave cookers are only about 65% efficient. So to get 550W output requires about 850W input. What makes you think that you would get away with it ?

Thanks.
I'll give it a miss.

You are correct that a 550W microwave will consume a lot more than 650W. The advertised power of a microwave relates to the cooking (output) power as opposed to the input requirements. The power plate on the back should identify the input requirements.

All these small generators are essentially the same and therefore I am pretty sure the 650W relates to the continuous maximum output; expect the peak output to be about 800W.

Oh, and heat added to the OP - the recent offer by Aldi of a similar product flew out the doors selling out in my local store within hours of opening.

If you are interested in securing one of these, I'd suggest you start queueing up before the doors open!
