I've been paying a fortune for oil as my Mercedes E280 CDi needs oil that meets Mercedes MB-229.51 standard. Then I was in urgent need of oil recently and took a chance while I was in Sainsbury's and found their own brand oil meets the standard and it's listed on the bottle. It's less than half the price of premium branded oil and it gets changed at least once a year anyway.

Nice one. Yeah I'm just learning about it to be honest. I've got a BMW E46 that drinks it so I'm having to buy a large bottle every 2500 miles. Nothing wrong with the engine. Just a design error

Have got this stuff as a 0W20 in my Suzuki. Good oil.

Sainsburys is £12 for 2 litres and is most likely to meet 229.51 but is not approved.

MB branded oil can be had for around £35.18 delivered which works out to be just over £7 for 2 litres. It comes with a Mercedes invoice too. 20L is cheaper still
