Price not bad for quickness of delivery & length  however it's a generic type & version 1.1...i am not sure if it will make a difference.:thinking:surely there's a reason for an updated version:?...as far as i know there's even ver 1.3:santa:

Can anyone tell me why there should be a difference at all between a £3 & a £23 hdmi cable when all that is being sent down it is 1 & 0's ???

There isn't, unless you need a very long cable. Unfortunately, alot of people fall for the marketing, due to a lack of information.

Im not to technical on this front. But i just yesterday bought that Beko TV that was on here. And it has a HDMI port can someone please tell me what exactly i can use it for? and like what things i can connect to it.

HDMI = (from memory) High Definition Media Interface

What you can use it for depends on what it's used to connect.

eg. DVD< ->TV, PS3< ->TV ... etc
in simple terms, it carries audio/video signals between devices. But, digitally, and has ability for the signals to be very high definition (eg. 1080p for video, 7.1 for audio). But, of course, the limitiation on the quality is down to your equipment - you won't get 1080p if your telly can't support it, you won't get 7.1 if your amp can't support it!!

not that great of a deal, its only hdmi 1.2! you can get a 2m hdmi 1.3 datawrite from scan.co.uk for around £8 which allows deep colour and uncompressed audio.

BUT, nothing on the mainstream market actaully supports HDMI 1.3, so I would jsut go for this. When HDMI 1.3 components come out full scale (if ever), I am sure the cables will be this price or cheaper.

I think by the time that Deep Colour sources are plentiful you could splash out on another £4 cable...

BTW the "expectation" is that 1.2 compliant cables will be good enough for the higher freq. 1.3 spec anyway...

But that's how they can sell discounted equipment - they make up the profit shortfall on the accessories - if you've just shelled out £1000+ for A/V equipment, another few quid to make it all work is an easy sale.

Julian Richer is a multi-millionaire BTW:p

you can buy hdmi cables for as little as £1.99 just google (hdmi cable £1.99 uk) this is not a great deal.i bought mine from lidl 6 months ago for £1.99 and it works great.its pretty straight forward for a typical set up any hdmi cable will do unless you have an extremely huge expensive tv.
#17
I payed £12.99 for one of these at Game when I bought my 360, a bit of a rip off I know, but I just wanted to get it home and play...

Yep go for it. got my one from ebay and it's running fine on my ps3. Its 1.3 or whatever, and cost £4!
#24
Seeing as the deal is for this cable and nothing else,i think the title should read either as £4 plus delivery or total cost inc delivery as £9.89.
Great price if you are buying something else though to get free delivery.

LOL, I do the same at Comet/Currys when they try to flog me a £30 Monster Scart cable.

Some places really do rip you off on these things. I got mine from Ebuyer. The 1 meter gold plated cost me £4.55 and the 2 meter version costs just £4.99

1 meter - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130507

2 meter - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130508

5 meter is only £5.99 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130511

Shipping is £2.74 extra I think.

I am very happy with the results.

Wireworld Silver Starlight HDMI cable 1.0 meters - RRP £299.95. Thats just the first one that came into my head! If you get sucked into the whole audiofile and home cinema circle then you can spend a fortune on cables alone, like Nordost speaker cable which I think can even get to something like £600 a meter!

I ordered one of these a week ago and estimated delivery date now showing as 11th December! Cancelled it and bought from play.com for £9.99 (V1.3 for my PS3).

Anyone out there know what's bundled with an Xbox 360 HDMI premium console? I've bought my son one for Crimbo and it says it's HDMI on the box, but no mention of a cable. I don't really want to break the seal and spoil things for Xmas day, so anyone got one of these care to comment?
I assume one of these cables into an HDMI 1080p LCD would do the trick nicely??
Cheers in advance.
