Great price, but will they check credit score for interest free period?

They're bound to, unless they've got money to burn.

I bought a watch off them using the 3 month offer. The transaction was accepted straight away so guess there was no credit check. You do need a credit card though, I think.
#5
No credit check for me AFAIK, just an email stating the dates it would be debiting my card for the remaining installments. I suppose retailers are looking at ways to entice people back into the marketplace. They probably assessed the risk and decided it was worth it :)

Argh, I bought the 19" Acer for £81 the other day. I hope I can return and buy this one in time before the stock goes.

This one has higher resolution as well, definitely better deal than the Acer i'd say.
I'm still waiting for a wuxga resolution screen for less than 100

Got this a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it, excellent value for the money.
The communication with the company about delivery and service was very poor though, seemed to tell me lies, but the item is great.

Great find, ordered through quidco for 4% cashback. Use the red wine voucher if you want a free bottle (don't like it so I avoided). Heat added.
#11
damn, just bought and i forgot quidco
#12
Perfect size, any bigger and I might as well buy a TV

On following the deal link I am receiving a warning message in Firefox about the security certificate from the site being invalid? Anybody else getting this?

Is that still available? I thought it had expired. No harm in giving it a go I guess...

Anyone know if this monitor can be rotated so that it is in portrait mode rather than landscape?
#16
I have £40 vouchers at this place can't make my mind up between this or an external HDD.

Any particular reviews on this? Can it be moved on the stand. Is a contrast ratio of 800:1 bad? It has definitely got VGA & DVI hasn't it? Had wrong specs provided by this lot before!

I think the wine offer is for your first order.

And no nothing about the Firefox security warning here.

I thought I'd seen this before. The old thread: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/306980/philips-200ws8fb-20-1-lcd-monitor-8/showthread.php?t=306980 = £84.99 !

Has a little bit of information in:

Someone emailed Phillips for warranty information and got this back - "The warranty for 200BW8ES/05 is a 3 years onsite swap" - although the monitor is 200WS8FB - :?

More info here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/2/200ws8fb_00/200ws8fb_00_pss_eng.pdf

How long is this deal likely to stay around?

I need to wait 3-5 days next week for my new bank card to arrive, is it likely to still be around then?
#22
Good Monitor, but pity about very poor contrast ratio of 800:1

I was wondering about this. I think I'm going to get it, thinking about it still.

Its actually been on offer for a long time. The old thread was posted 1 month and 2 days ago at £85. The only possible thing to worry about is that its a January offer. Which of course ends tonight.... That would be gutting....

EDIT: Ordered !
#24
thanks very much - ordered, using discount code FREE-DELIVERY to knock 2 quid off order!
#25
Ok, I've gambled.

Cancelled my order of the 19" Acer, I just have to hope that this is still on offer when my new card arrives otherwise I'm going to be monitorless!
#26
great deal OP...
#27
I'm passing this deal onto my mum thanks :-)

I was wondering though, I have a voucher code from CDiscount from the 50% cashback thing from the other week. Can I give it to my mum or are they tied to your account?
#28
I am sure they are tied to your account.

Read the terms and conditions - found in your account section when you click on vouchers.

EDIT: After your first order to your billing address I'm sure you are allowed to send to other addresses.

Any monitor can be rotated. It's the graphics card that maters.
#30
I'm not sure the stand on this is all that good, not like other top end monitors. Just a normal stand.

I do hope this has HDCP support though!

I think the poster meant a physical rotation as you can do on our screens at work :-)

Thank you for contacting Philips regarding your 200WS8FB/00.

I understand from your email that you would like to know if the 200WS8FB/00 is HDCP compliant.

This 200WS8FB/00 is not HDCP compliant.
My apologies for the inconvenience.

Hmm...

Hmm...

As a general rule if it doesn't have speakers it's not HDCP compliant.
#34
Does this mean I cant use it to watch freeview/terrestrial television?

Don't know how accurate that is. I know you said 'general' but my Samsung is HDCP compliant and doesn't have speakers. Neither do the Gateways in work.
#36
A general rule maybe yes but not a definitive one.

CReilly

It means you cannot view HD media content - as it is basically a copyright thing.

I was thinking of connecting a PS3 up (HDMI to DVI cable) which won't work without HDCP that's all.

EDIT: I'm still sceptical on the model number and specs - Philips site has 00 and 75 (US model I think) at the end of the Cdiscount product code. I've also read that it is selective to the model whether you get HDCP support - one review earlier with a slightly older model had it. That's the problem with cdiscount, you have no idea what specs you are getting unless you read some good reviews and check it out. But you don't know the specifics enough same happened with a laptop I ordered. I've ordered it anyway and too late to cancel so will see.

As I said it's a general rule :)
#38
Hokay, thanks guys. Do I need any special cables to connect it to a free-view box?

And then just to find a good deal on one of those...
1 Like #39
This monitor only comes with a VGA and DVI slot.

I think so. Your free-view box needs SCART cables doesn't it? You may need a SCART to VGA cable then. PIC - http://www.coralphones.co.uk/F2SImages/WSS-C04-prod.jpg

Thanks nadzzz, gave you a little rep for your trouble.

Going on the hunt for a hot deal on a freeview box now, wish me luck!
