I brought that monitor the other day and it is worth every penny colour is amazing, size is overly impressive, it cheap in cost and its superb. 1080p is amazing beyond believe, I rate this monitor over a samsung and I have seen many samsungs.

The only disappointment is the usb is pointless as you need to connect it to another usb cable which is not provided

Oh yeah, the response time they have posted is the basic response time. It can be adjusted to 2ms which is perfect for gaming

nowadays monitors and tvs seem to do each others jobs, so is there a reason why i should use a monitor to connect to my computer rather than a tv? would it be better quality?
#7
It never said anything when i posted just mentioned some other ebuyer deals that may match this one but none did. I already have a hd 23" lcd but it only has vga input & i want to run a hdmi splitter from my ps3 to the big tv & a monitor (so i can play while the wife watches the soaps zzzz) was hoping to use the one i have (acer v233h (without dvi)) but apparently it needs to be hdcp compliant?? so gonna sell acer & buy this unless anyone knows of a way to achieve what i want to do with my current setup?

Had this montior for about 2 motnhs now, been using it for PC at full HD settings and for my brothers PS3 when he visits... best monitor I have ever had and that includes the dell montior that I use with my PS3 all the time, there's nothing wrong with the dell just to be clear, but the colours on the phillips seems better and of course having speakers built in are a plus. My surround system went wrong once and so for 10 days I had to try and figure out another way to get sound as the dell doesn't have speakers... that was a right pain in the (_!_)

As the other guy said, the downside is a useless USB port (unless you have a webcam or something) but can't see the point personally as you have to run a USB devide cable to within 6-10 inches of where the USB port is anyway, so why wouldn't you just run an extension cable anyway?? - and the only downside I can see as such is the monitor not having the ability to be wall mounted at all... but not a problem for me as this is my PC monitor and backup just in case anything happens to the dell (which is wall mounted)

hope that helps someone anyway, this is a great monitor especially for the price too.

Well now i'm confused LCD or LED?

They're just specialised for different jobs - a monitor for displaying whatever it's given and a TV for trying to make the best out of low resolution video signals. Given the different pricing it's a little hard to compare directly, the average monitor is generally only £150 or less while I'd imagine a lot of people spend £500 or more on their TV.

They are both LCD monitors. LED just refers to the backlighting.

I was going to buy this monitor from Ebuyer just after Xmas (due to good reviews and the variety of input connection types), but they ramped the price up to £179 for a few days (as they often do) so ended up getting the equivalent LG which I'm very happy with.

Gloss finish, but doesn't reflect too badly IMO... the dell is far worse.

Assuming your TV is also 23" or similar than the main improvement you're likely to see on this is less delay before the picture is shown. But if you haven't noticed any problems there on your TV it's probably not worth going for this.

Are you sure? I have this monitor and the screen is matt

have to say it is a very very good monitor indeed :)
#22
Yep I'm sure, I'm typing this whilst looking at it, also the description on ebuyer also says gloss too :)

[edit] Duh, got confused sorry... the screen is just like any other TFT screen, the bezel is glossy. I assumed that's what the guy was asking about the bezel... I've never actually seen a glossy screen on a TFT monitor personally... that's another reason I prefer monitors to actual TVs

Is this better than the Dell ST2410 which I ordered a couple of weeks ago for £160. Im not sure if I sure cancel the Dell for this. The advantage of the Dell is that i's 24" (1" bigger). Also what about the other BenQ monitors. I'm confused to what to do.

either
1. Do not cancel the Dell ST2410
2. cancel and buy this monitor
3. cancel and buy one of the BenQ monitors

someone who knows this stuff, HELP ME
#26
I've got this monitor recently and it is quality.
Colours are vivid.
Motion is handled well enough.
Aesthetically looks good.
Built-in speakers - though they are tinny when at full volume.
There is a headphone jack out - so you can connect better thumping speakers.
No dead-pixels...though I guess that's hit or miss with any LCD.
VGA and DVI and HDMI.

I was hesitating which to buy...Dell...LG...other brands...but the Computer Shopper and peoples reviews help me make a good choice with the Philips :-)

very good review on this monitor heat added

Been looking for a decent monitor and decided to take the plunge - also going to be useful so my son can play with the 360 or PS3 in his room with HDMI (and sound from the monitor!) when I'm not using the monitor. :)

Heat added.

hey guys, does anyone know how his would compare to http://www.electrical-deals.co.uk/products/samsung-tvs/ls23cfvkfen-samsung-sm2333hd-syncmaster-full-hd-23-lcd-freeview.html?. primarily want it for the xbox but am not sure whether the picture would look as good as it might on this philips screen.

cheers

You connect it to the USB port on the back of your pc, it saves you from having to have an extension on the desk or bending down to plug it straight into the pc.

I've just bought this monitor, for £154.99 with free next day delivery.

The HDMI, better than most speakers, and the 3 Years warranty sung it for me.
Was looking at the £110 digi one.
