IMO no difference between this and Poundland's one other than the price. Some people will swear there's a difference, others will agree with me.

If you're lead to believe there's a difference, you'll see a difference (even if there isn't one); a common tactic at Richer Sounds!

Once again, in my opinion for the aforementioned above I'm cold on this. Maybe other's will put their cold voting reasons down?

It will make a difference on analogue. Digital such as HDMI will not matter whether it's gold plated etc.

I don't need to spend £14.66 on a cable to make a difference, a simple £1 duster from Poundland will sufficiently clean and improve both the lens of my TV and glasses.
Other sources of duster are available, some under £1.

Thanks for the replies guys, and the freezing score put me off buying this. I'll try and borrow a mates high quality scart lead and if I notice a better picture compared to my poundland SCART, i'll go out and buy a decent one.

The really cheap cables will affect your picture quality (i had a 99p cable from sainsburys) however changing to a £5 cable made a huge difference. Not sure the EXTRA quality of this cable would make much difference to that, but i'm sure against a cheapo £1 cable it will.

i wouldnt buy cheap scarts as all ive tried were rubbish.....get a reasonable priced one , they DO make a difference and they connect better too, cheap ones even drop out of the socket without even touching them.....better ones usually lock into the socket...it makes me laugh when people spend 00's on a tv and then pennies on the cable that connects source to tv....thats a bit like putting water into a car instead of petrol

Yeah, I sense there's an analogy with eating out here, the difference between £5 at a kebab shop and £15 at a good steakhouse is pretty big, but spending £1500 on a meal at a fancy restaurant wont get you a meal even 10 times better, never mind a hundred.

From zero evidence or research, I'd say it's probably worth paying a fiver or so, instead of poundshop leads, but monster cables made from scrapings from the One Ring and dried unicorn horn ain't gonna be that much better :)

I've posted the link before, but take a look at the reviews for the almighty Denon link cable for only a HOT $999

http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AKDL1-Dedicated-Link-Cable/dp/B000I1X6PM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

A sample:

Transmission of music data at rates faster than the speed of light seemed convenient, until I realized I was hearing the music before I actually wanted to play it. Apparently Denon forgot how accustomed most of us are to unidirectional time and the general laws of physics. I tried to get used to this effect but hearing songs play before I even realized I was in the mood for them just really screwed up my preconceptions of choice and free will. I'm still having a major existential hangover.

Would not purchase again.

if you want better than the pound shop type, how about one of these?
P+P is about £4 I think, but £6 or £7 total is half the original post link.

The last time I got a scart cable was from a blank dvd retailer website, but I can't remember the sites name
All i can remember was they were in Scotland.

7dayshop also have a gold plated scart cable for £5.99 with free P+P

EDIT
I just found the one I bought last time at bigpockets. £4.49 plus P+P
:)

If you really have to buy a scart cable from Argos, why not try this slightly shorter 1.5m gold-plated jobby at a slightly more acceptable £1.99?
One of the few instances where shorter is better :whistling:
