With this TV you can now enjoy the benefits of digital TV, Electronic Program Guide and digital quality content. At the same time, you can also watch superb pictures with Pixel Plus clarity and details, and with exciting and lifelike sound

Vivid, natural and razor sharp images.
This WXGA display with state-of-the-art LCD screen technology gives you widescreen HD resolution of 1366 x 768p pixels. It produces brilliant flicker-free progressive scan pictures with optimum brightness and superb colours.

Pixel Plus HD for better details, depth and clarity in HDTV
Pixel Plus is a digital picture processing technology that increases the number of lines and the number of pixels. The result is razor sharp pictures with incredible detail and depth from any HD source.

3D comb filter separates colours for a razor-sharp image
The 3D comb filter separates brightness and colour signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-colour, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. The 3D digital comb filter performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the colour from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl.

This is the same series tv (5522) that won the gadget show's big tv test thing the other day (although they used the 47") so should be good

DSG (Dixons) is using the Philips label for their own exclusive models (also for laptops). This particular model is not supplied by Philips UK, no details on their web site, and it's difficult to find out the exact specifications. Because you are dependent on DSG' bad service for this set, I wouldn't touch it.

Check out reviews on Philips TV's most of them come out tops for picture quality, we bought a 42" last year and the upscaling of standard definition using their pixel plus technology is fantastic and HD quality awesome, the wealth of tweaks in the colour tinting too allows a very natural colour pallet.

I swear by Philips LCD's.

I agree, Philips are generally very good. But every company has good and bad sets. I would only buy from a dealer which sells tvs supplied by Philips UK. Only than have you got a guarantee for a good service or spare parts when needed, This particular Dixon tv is not supplied by Philips UK (unless you can prove me wrong here) and I would not touch it. The main reason, no-one knows the exact specifications since this model does not officially exist in the UK and Dixons does not supply the exact specifications. They only tell you half the story and if you need a service you are landed with The TechGuys from DSG, which I think everybody will agree are terribly not interested in providing any service to their customers..

Thats bad if this set is exclusive to Dixons I have to admit. I have had the Philips 42PF7621D/10 set now for nearly a year (warranty expires in 2 weeks) without any problems at all, however this is not a store exclusive set.

Agreed about any of those partmasters DSG group services, I hear appalling things about them. If this is the case that Philips don't do the warranties (and I hear anyway that Philips themselves are not great for servicing anyway) then I too wouldn't recommend this set. The website does list the Philips 32PFL5520 (All Silver) & 5521 (SIlver surround and stand with Black TV framing), it looks to me that they are colour options and that is all thats different, perhaps the 5522 (All Black with silver stand) being exclusive colours to DSG like I know certain Samsung sets are like this, if this is the case the warranty should still be with Philips and TV firmware updates the same as these two models, any potential buyers would be best to check first though for sure!

UPDATE : It is listed on the Philips website http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=32PFL5522D/05&scy=gb&slg=ENG&grp=TV_GR&cat=FLAT_TV_CA&sct=LCD_LARGE_30_40_SU

Best check but I would think that it would be Philips that would honour the warranty through their serviceline if you prefer than phoning DIxons.

Don't belive everything The Gadget Show (Channel 5) tells you. I can make any ****** set look good by comparing it to an even more inferior products. One must compare the best products in their class, only then will you get the winner in a particular class. The Gadget Show, which I regularly watch, has on many occasions chosen inferior products against the one (which I believe) they wanted to win.
