For a bigger picture at a better price, check out the Philips 42PFL5522D.

In addition to boasting a larger than average screen for this class, the 42PFL5522D backs this up with superior picture quality. Philips' unique picture enhancement system, Pixel Plus HD, improves clarity and detail resolution by increasing the number of lines and pixels. Other picture enhancements such as the 3D combfilter, active control and jagged line suppression ensure that the 42PFL5522 gives a picture that's clean, vibrant yet natural in appearance.

not sure if the link will work!!

Seems a good price bud.

Worth mentioning that for an extra £50 you can get a 5 year warranty from RS.

Oh and don't be put off by the silent negative voters out there - I've given it some heat.

Have a Philips 42PF7621D myself, owned now for nearly a year, and whilst I cannot vouch for this this model, I have to say I have been extrememly inpressed with the picture quality of the set. Philips typically get good reviews for picture quality with their sets and I am extremely pleased with the pixel plus technology and the array of picture options they provide.

Standard definition material pumped through it is handled brilliantly with pixel plus, and HD material you have the option to turn off any artifact noise reductions.

A friend of mine is a avid snooker player in tournaments and he was complaining about the green level of the set, with a few tweaks I got in his eyes a totally good looking green that he cannot get on his LCD screen (Evesham set).

Heat added for such a great trusted brand.

Whilst it is a good deal, have care it is not a 1080p resolution TV, which on this size screen, is likely to be desirable for really good high definition pictures.

not much point in richersounds having a website if they dont actually sell the tvs online, only in their shops which is a 150 mile trip for me so not worth it,if you live close to one of their corner shops then perhaps not a bad deal but prefer to go for a 1080p set at this size.

Shame bout the 1080 but have some heat anyhow!!

We just bought this from John Lewis and made them price compare with Richer Sounds! Richer Sounds instore price is same as Web price and John Lewis will do Price comparison with them! had to pay about £20 for delivery as Richer price doesn't include Delivery. Give it a try if you want!

1080p does not always equate to better picture quality than 720p. Also consider viewing distance. unless you are sat fairly close you can't appricate the extra pixels with 1080p. Smaller file size when downloading 720p content.
Always phone Richer Sounds first to reserve, they often have limited supplys of these good deals.
Good deal and rooban's suggestion.

Precisely, we are very happy with our 42" 1080i set, recommended viewing distance from a 42" set is 10ft, which our sofa is.
