i have 43", it is 8 bit 4k, picture isn't the best compared to my 1080p sony bravia. Although it is much clearer when displaying 4k resolutions.
The android interface is terrible, it is slowish and laggy compared to my NVidia shield. Can never seem to get Netflix to load. Now and again volume bar disappears completely, or source button doesn't change channels between hdmi imputs. This requires a hard reset.

I have also encountered a crash where google services stops working, then you cant change channels or get into settings etc without error messages.
This needed a firmware downgrade to fix.

But now TV is working fine, without using android interface to any extent, thanks to my shield.

But the one saving grace, and I really mean this...

... the ambilight is AMAZING!!

I cant get over how much it brings to my viewing experience, whether it be movies/tv shows, the footy or some xbox gaming. I absolutely love it, and can look past all the quirks to keep this genius innovation only available to Philips TV's.

P.S I paid £340 for 43", it would cost more than double that for a proper good 4K high spec tv, so I got what I paid for really

I have this TV, great value and Android on it also is a bonus! Sound OK but worth getting a soundbar.

Pros = Cheap, and Philips tend to have excellent screens.

Cons = almost certainly 1st gen 4K, and Philips havent got the best reliability record on the gubbins round the back.

For £50 more you can get some Samsung and LG models which generally are more reliable, and have better smart features; even if the screen isnt quite as good out of the box.

I got the same for £340ish, haven't had any problems with the Android TV interface other than Leanback Launcher crashing once and YouTube crashing a couple of times. Netflix always loads up super fast, Kodi runs fine (except won't do Samba with my WD Cloud so using UPNP instead.

I don't use the built in TV tuners though, just have a Sky Q box hooked up to it.

Ambilight is totally awesome. Have a Hue bulb in my living room too, planning to get a couple of Hue Blooms for the side walls too for some real immersion.

Even if you find the built-in Android TV isn't the greatest it's still miles better than WebOS on LG TVs.

agree on build quality but for smart I disagree, I have a 2016 model samsung in our living room and a 43 inch one of these in the kids playroom, the Phillips smart blows the samsung out of the water. really impressed, especially having a netflix button. browsing through my NAS is twice a fast on the Phillips than the samsung which is surprising as I think these are dual core and the samsung is quad.

I have this tv but paid £499 for it, I highly recommend it. I love the picture and the ambilight feature is brill :)

It's annoying that all these 4k tvs lack 3d as it makes half my Blurays redundant.
#14
Great price, got the 43" replacing my Philips 42" HD plasma - defo a upgrade, Ambilight a bonus

Not true, my old 4K has 3D, not that I ever use it.

It doesn't get much more "smart" than this. We have a couple samsungs, an lg, a sharp and two of these Philips sets in the house and the Philips' can do pretty much anything I ask via android or casting or the USB ports. I find the 4K Samsung smarts quite laggy in comparison to this set and more proprietary in comparison (needs Samsung apps etc). Plus ambilight is incredible.

Almost every Philips electrical item except shavers I've had dies within 2 years.

I am forever being tempted by 4K, until I read the power it uses compared to my 1080. I would be paying more day in day out every time I watched it, that goes against my DNA.
#19
Had one of these, Android is very very laggy, 1st one crashed while updating and wouldn't get past the load screen so replaced it.

Ambilight is great though and pictures are sharp and have good depth but in regards to quality my Sony Bravia 1080p 2015 tv has a better quality and Android runs 2 or 3 times faster than on the Phillips.

Remote and tv generally feel cheap, even the power cable does but I suppose it is cheap.

It's good for the price but like i said I've gone back to my full hd Bravia.

Ooh i also had problems with sync/speech issues with some 4K content, never got to the bottom of it but I think it was probably app related.

What are the SD channel's like on this.
I have a new Samsung 49"ku6500 curved TV, it's the latest range, and while the HD is outstanding, the SD is so bad I am genuinely considering taking it back.
Would like to know what the SD is like on this please if anyone could offer advice.

There's loads about tbf....

Ordered, been waiting for this deal to come back! Been looking at tellys for ages, dont think anything 4k comes close to this for £400.

Got one of these on Black Friday, the built in Freeview was awful seemed like it was constantly losing signal. I swapped it and the problem was the same with the new unit. Plugged in an old Sky HD box and Freeview works fine through that.
Otherwise the TV works well, not much 4k content around even with Netflix and Prime but picture looks great and Ambilight is a great feature. The ability to install kodi right on the Tv is also a nice bonus ;)
#24
I see this has Google Play. Can you install your apps you use on your phone? Also can you use a wireless keyboard and mouse with it?

Great TV

Wondering if they would allow the use of the code in conjunction with sainsburys colleague discount... could be the ultimate sweetner 8).

Was really after the 50" sammy ku6 thats been on offer at various retailers.

Looks like a good deal but really want the 3 sides of ambilight, feels like something's missing in the experience if the top strip of leds isn't there?
#28
I got this deal yesterday
Was and still holding out for the Costco 3 sided amberlight that went to £530 almost the same tv bit bigger saving with this one... Still would of liked the 3 sides one I just hope Costco don't do the sale again anytime soon

There's a limited amount of apps on there, but has everything I want so far. Yes you can using Wireless Keyboard/mouse, I've been using a Rii i8 Keyboard/Touchpad with mine. DualShock 3 controllers also work when connected by USB.

Can you only get the 10% off if you buy on fast track?

I'm hoping to buy some giftcards, but they can only be used in store. Is it possible to get the discount on click and collect?

On Black Friday it wasn't possible to use the code with C&C, unlikely to have changed.

I've been considering different 49/50" TVs around £400 for a while, and decided to go for this one.

This is definitely a bonus...

ITV, All 4 and 50D catch-up apps are not available.

Brilliant TV. Was worried about Android but so far it works smoothly and fast. Had not watch TV for the last few years but since I bought this one, I do. It's a real pleasure!
