Could I use this with a TV?
#2
Usually value speaker sets connect using a standard 3.5mm connection same as a headphones jack so as long as your tv has a headphone jack output then yes and this is a 3.5mm connection then yes.

If you are using your headphone jack then your TV remote should control it

I read somewhere about this

"It is an amazing product but if you are trying to connect to a laptop please be advised it is got 3 audio connector and no headphones jack... so basically u need to have3 audio / sound jack in your PC or laptop to play this... "

So i need to purchase extra adapter to connect it to my laptop which only has 1 3.5mm jack?

if you connect this via 3.5mm - would that be true 5.1 output from the TV (via the 3.5)

No, you need optical out for that, that is true 5.1.

I want to play mkv. files using my laptop. and connect HDMI to my TV and connect the 5.1 speakers to my TV by optical output. Will that be true 5.1? Will it work?

because currently, my HDMI cable does not transmit sound. as in I need to connect my 2.1 speakers to my laptop, and the pictures is on TV, but sounds come from laptop. Anybody can give advice?

Cant find how long the wires are, If the speakers need to go around the back and not create a mess, they would need to be quite long.

Anyone know?

These speakers has not got optical input but if you want to connect 5.1 speakers to tele then either an AV Receiver+speaker setup or at least packages like Logitech Z5500 will be required because it has got optical input. As far as "true 5.1" is concerned, I think your tele to speakers connection using optical input will still be considered true 5.1

For people who are looking to buy 5.1 speakers (with low budget) and connect those to tele, Logitech X-540 is the best option because of its matrix mode which converts 2.1 to 5.1 which is surely not true 5.1 but gives very good audio experience. I have currently got same setup where my bluray / sky hd is connected to LCD and X-540 are connected to LCD using headphone socket with Matrix mode ON which gives good enough surround sound while watching films on hd channels / bluray.

Very tempted. Super hot.

Anybody know if you can extend the length of the rear speaker cables?
#18
Sod it. Ordered them! :)

Looking at the manual here it would seem it has 6 analogue inputs on the back meaning that for a laptop/TV headphone socket the best you are going to get without any internal processing from the device itself for missing connections is 2.0 ie stereo.

Yup. Definitely. Soundcard needs 3 outputs to get this set doing 5.1. Gladly, mine does. No good for PS3/360/TV if you want 5.1.

I just hope I can extend those rear cables. 1.5m is TINY.

Did anybody else order? Still awaiting confirmation of despatch :(

In case anybody ever reads this thread again, I got mine and they're perfectly good. Very light but sound fine. The front and centre cables are TINY though. Really pathetic.
