No doubt we will soon get the why buy plasma when you can get LCDs posts.

Don't go by the hype, decide what you want it for, balance the quality of picture against the power usage and you will see that this is a great price for a large Plasma set.

BTW I own two large panel LCDs and no plasma sets. For me that balance went in favour of LCDs but they aren't necessarily the best for everyone.

Not the only cheap place you can buy this set for though. £819 at Pixmania for example. Laskys £840 and didn't I see a 5% code on here earlier?

On Pixmania this is £820 and then you have to add on delivery making this £840.

I'm voting this hot given that Laskys and Pixmania are about £100 cheaper at least than the rest.

I've been told it isn't possible to get an LCD tv over 42" - you have no option but to go for a plasma screen...... This looks a great price...

You have been told wrong, there are many LCD TV's over 42", e.g. these are Sony's offerings.

I think what he meant was, get over a certain size and the quality detoriates in favour of a plasma.
