:whistling: Shame you dont understand what you are talking about.

Personally, I would go for a 50" Samsung for the same price. (or even better a panasonic PX80 if you can find1)

You need to register as a VIP as they check your e-mail address. You can, however, join instore. They even give you a swish card to take away!

While it's not a hassle to join the VIP list, I've shopped there various times without them checking or even asking for my email addy.

A £100 is a big saving, but (on paper at least) isn't the Samsung PS50A457 a better value TV for the same money (£699.95 normal price from Richer Sounds, or £695 delivered from Novatech, as posted recently on HUKD)? Just comparing the specs:

The Samsung has PC input, the Philips doesn't, Samsung=3 Hdmi inputs/Philips=2, Samsung has smaller dimensions & depth but same screen size, Samsung has 30000:1 contrast ratio/Philips is 15000:1, Samsung brightness is 1500 cd per m2/Philips is 1200, and the Samsung has 100hz scanning, the Philips doesn't.

Samsung for me too :) (A much costlier model and from the latest series)

but... the one thing I love about my previous philips telly's is the ultra quick channel change timing. :) Pretty cool thing for a channel surfer :D

Ok obviously I don't know what I'm talking about but where's Marty gone wrong? Looking at the specs on Richer Sounds:

1080p Full Hd Ready - Is it ready to receive 1080p, Full High Definition signals? - No
Pixel Resolution - Pixel resolution - Horizontal x vertical - 1366 x 768

Doesn't look like full HD to me either? :whistling:

:) Agreed - I have a £1700 samsung and it sounds awful. I have to switch my amp on to get any decent audio out of the bl00dy thing

He wasn't stating that it is 1080P, merely that 1080P doesn't necessarily make for a better TV than 720P.

Correct. I was perhaps a bit harsh singling the poster out. But EVERY Plasma thread has an early post of "shame its not 1080P". It makes me think people troll just to wind up plasma users.

Wow, ok, and that was me thinking the OP was merely pointing out it wasn't full HD. Must remember to read between the lines more... :-D
