At the moment if you add both items (the ambx starter pack & the extension kit) you save £5, making both items great value at just £34.98!

Are these integrated speakers and lights or just lights? How would I integrate them into my 7.1 surround sound set up? Would I have to replace my 7.1 speakers with the 2.1 system here? I like the idea of ambient game lighting but wouldn't want to sacrifice my excellent sound.

This is just a lighting system - does not replace your current sound system. One USB connection to your PC.

Thanks. I am going to order a pair.

I have this ambx light set up connected to my acer revo pc which is situated in my lounge the lights work brilliantly with xbmc boxee wmp wmp classic all the other media players etc and really add that extra touch to a home cinema install. It would be great it they brought one out to use on a bluray/xbox/ps3 system ive heard its in the pipeline. The length of the cables from the side lights to the centre console are only short and the plug are similar to a rgb pc plug they plug into the main hub which is powered from a dc supply and gets its signal from usb via a pc.Its great the way it emulates what colours are on the movie emitting light across the walls n ceiling defo worth the £30.
#8
Do these only work on the pc or will it also work on xbox360
#9
Only work on a pc via usb

damm... looks good

so wish this worked with any tv,my tv has usb too:(

I ordered these last time they were on here. They're great for the first couple of days in games - works great for l4d2 even though it is not one of the compatible games, it adds extra lighting atmosphere - until you get used to them and don't notice them anymore.

They're always on in the background though, giving a nice glow to the room in the evenings. Think of them more as background decoration rather than gameplay-enhancing.

Also, don't expect them to ship with OF2, last time this was posted no one received it, only TOCA 2, but send ebuyer an email and they'll refund you like £4 or something.

they are releasing them supposedly on the ps3/360

so how would these work when connected to a media center on a 50" tv? if i playted a movie through the media center on VCC or WMP, would these give appropriate lighting? like philips ambilight?
#15
How big are they, will they clutter the room? Is it possible to hide them whilst maintaining the light?
#16
The extension pack at e-buyer is now out of stock - have taken the plunge - saw some u-tube videos of them working with films - not sure how but will look into - thanks op

They're not big - about the same size as desktop speakers, maybe slightly bigger, and the central unit can easily hide behind a 19'' monitor.
#18
Word of warning - these have been discontinued by Philips, future game support is not guaranteed
#19
These work on 64bit windows too. just looked into it

What if the monitor is wall mounted? Can I put the central unit under the desk?

Care to link to it? don't see how it could work with ps3/360/tv when it's software driven?

The central unit has lights as well , so i'd say that wouldn't be a good idea, you wont get the full effect.

Works perfect on Windows 7 64bit.

I ordered this last week, paid £35.
It has so far worked well will everything I've thrown at it. DX11 doesn't work but it's fine on DX10.

They're working on DX11 support apparently. Although they've been discontinued by Phillips, there's still people working on updated drivers. Just check the AMBX forums for updates.

My big light is under my desk. However, I have a frosted glass desk, so it looks pretty awesome cause it lights up my entire desk. I'm not sure how it would look under a wooden desk.

I received these last week from the previous post. As someone else has already said there is little chance that you will receive Operation Flashpoint as promised so if you are buying it for this I wouldn't bother. Ebuyer didn't have any replacement games, but did give a £5 refund, which was o.k. as we already have the game.

If your media centre is a pc based system these lights will work great i use about 5 different programs within win7 and they work great with any.Someone has put a comment on saying these work with game consoles they DONT ! there is a system in the pipeline that will work with ps3/360 which will be great .Ambx forums is a great place to start for advice on these great units if you get the units dont install the software that comes on the supplied cd use the newer software from the ambx site and follow the guidelines. If you dont find your free copy of OFP2 itll be in the outer sleeve box that the main box is slid into if not ring ebuyer

Wasn't for me - I think that might just be a bit of wishful thinking by Ebuyer. Judging by the reviews and comments the last few times this was posted more people have missing copies than not. It's not a big problem - I'm just saying don't make a buying decision based on the fact that it includes OF as it probably won't. For us it simply meant that the AMBX system was a better buy, at £19.99.

thanks OP - ordered a set for my living room -if it works well I'll have to try and wall mount some in my bedroom!
#31
Got OF2 anyway and don't care for TOCA, so it will be nice to get something back on the order.
#32
yeh ordered 2 sets for my 50", had a read on the forums and says you can team them.
used to be £25 so its more now than used to be, but still cheap.
im hopin i dont get the games so can get £5 back.
#33
Sadly the ex VAT price has gone up to £29.77 which expires the deal.

Just keep an eye on the Ebuyer site. These were £24.98 last week and earlier this year when previously posted, so £29.98 wasn't that hot a deal anyway. They are bound to go down again shortly.

mine arrived yesterday and had both games in it - followed the set up guide on the AMBX forum site and job done - have to say these really add a dimesion to watching films (used VLC and it worked first time) - watched 2010 and it looked great on a 32" LCD - will try the games tonight.............now, do I really needs those fans :)))))
