was £77 then over £100 so looks like they have reduced them back down again

I've brought this model for the same price, and gotta say it's really good, it's quiet, easy to set up, good for the price, I was after the Phillips BDP3000, but that was £114 so got this for £77 and pleased with the purchase.

these same brand of blu-ray players are selling over £100 in Sainsburys. Bought mine just before xmas and its brilliant!

Saw a stack of these at Pillgwenlly Asda earlier this morning

I don't need most things posted on this site, but I don't vote them cold for that reason. If something's a deal, and you want it or not it's feasible to vote hot, vice versa if you don't want it and think it's a bad deal, you can vote cold.

Otherwise, I just ignore posts for stuff that I don't like or have any use for - saves filling up the site with comments that add nothing of value to anyone else etc, as well as deals getting cold just because people have no use for them. That must be one of the worst reasons to vote cold that I've ever come across!

What value is it for anyone else to know that you have no need for a Blu ray player?

good deal, want to sell my PS3 and get a standalone blue ray player, this looks good

They had load in Swindon orbital, but looked like they were £114 again on Saturday. Maybe back down now, who knows.

Shirley you mean to say "bought"?

Voted cold. Bluray is heavily DRM restricted, and is therefore defective by design.
I will never offer financial, or any other kind of support, to such a product.

Not voting hot or cold to be fair to the OP.

But, I need to point out that these are Profile 1.1 machines, the latest Blu Ray players are Profile 2.0.

This means that there may be features that are not supported by this player in the future. Particularly with Blu Ray Live. In my opinion, spend an extra £20 or so and by a Philips BDP3000 or a Sony BD-S360

In stock at Pembroke Dock Asda had about 10 on the shelf.

Wrong on both counts

Read up on what a farse bluray is, and you'll realize every punter buying into it is being ripped off.

If your receiver does it then it does not need to be decoded it simply needs to pass it out as "bitstream".

However the answer is yes, it will both pass it out as bitstream so you get a nice shiny "HD AUDIO" light on your amp, or optionally it will decode it internally and pass it out as PCM.

They had these in the Killingbeck, Leeds store and were reducing them down to £50 in the clearance area. As is custom, people grabbed them quickly. I was informed they would be getting more in stock and reducing them.

This has been on since November 09, they had a huge pile of them in my local Asda in Great Bridge did think about posting it then but forgot! D'OH! Good price I feel for a branded player most non-branded players are around this price point.
