Came across this today when trawling the internet. I have been looking for a 2nd Blu-Ray Player for a while now and seen a few decent deals around i.e. Sainsburys Samsung Internet TV Blu-Ray. But the models I have seen are too much I already have a PS3 for Internet TV so only need a bog standard player.

And considering these films that are free with this bundle would be amongst my collection it's a real bonus.

Main Specifications
Product Description: Philips BDP2500 - Blu-ray disc player
Dimensions (WxDxH): 36 cm x 24 cm x 5.4 cm
Weight: 2.2 kg
Media Type: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD, CD, Video CD, BD-R, BD-RE, BD-ROM
BD Profiles: Profile 1.1 (Bonus View)
Upscaling: Yes ( up to 1080p )
Connections: 1 x HDMI ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) - rear ¦ 1 x audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 ) - rear ¦ 1 x composite video output ( RCA phono ) - rear ¦ 1 x digital audio output (coaxial) ( RCA phono ) - rear

So please note when voting I am not putting this up as a Top Spec Blu-Ray because it isn't though for those that don't want to shell out on the top range models like myself this is ideal!

Why do you need a bog standard player if you already have a PS3 - the PS3 is still the best Bluray player out there ...

So I have one for my Bedroom, have gotten bored of carting the PS3 around my house when the missus wants to watch a film in bed. ;)

I need one to play DVDS as my ps3s fan sounds like it's gonna blow up, although it's fine watching blu rays!

My PC plays blu rays too - but doesnt look as neat under the TV in the living room as my PS3 ... have PC and 360 in Study, so fairly platform agnostic.

a good stand alone bluray player connected to a big tv is much better than a watching blurays on pc/laptop or even ps3.
but I will ignore philips,lg,etc and go for better brands like panasonic, sony or maybe samsung.
ps3 fan noise is not noticable during gameplay but is indeed noticable while watching films.besides its nicer to have a dedicated player instead of playing them on a games console.although ps3 is fantastic in playing blurays.

Yeh I know I saw that one and missed out on that deal as it went out of stock really quick and was only changed to instore only. So I decided to post again as stock is now back!

I'm not too sure about the fan noise being such an issue, at least not on my Slim! I can hear it though when the hard drive is active you do hear it then but just a bit at quiet moments.

Yeh I tried to cover that in description this is not a unit for movie enthusiasts etc. though is good for the odd film now and again which is what I bought it for.

A guy on AV Forums said it's colour reproduction, bright whites and blacks were better than a Sony Upscaling DVD he had. Buts that is not a great comparison, as people have mentioned mixed reviews but does the job overall. And when you look at the price it's like £50 at the very most if you sold the Blu-Rays that are bundled with it, so is good value compared to most other players.

thanks for the info :)

I will prob go for it although the planet earth bundled one looks tempting to lol...but more expensive >.<
