It doesn't play all the mkv's and this one's got all other features, is a tenner cheaper and you can pick it up and get 5 years warranty for £6 on top.

does the phllips even play mkv?

Heating you up Kevin......but remember matey the 5 year warranty is a tenner if less than £100 not 10%....still a great WARRANTY deal.....without doubt.

They will always go cold at first anyway matey as it is school holidays isn't it? The immature amongst the membership do not understand the concept of the site being for looking for a great deals.....they think it is AV forums or similar that gives the right to compare other products...this is HUKD and to be honest I don't care how many colds I get......I really only post in audiovisual as this is my bag...

Kevin have you ever seen a post for 2 litre coke at £1 bottle and some nob has written ah but Pepsi is far better and only £1.10.......NO because it is all about the deal. AUDIOVISUAL section seems to be about what others ideas of what is the best bluray or the best dvd or the best tv....at the end of the day a deal is a deal to someone.....

By the way the best RS deal today is my Philips 5.1 Upscaling DVD system @ £59.95 now I am gonna real cold.....

Good luck mate.....

You will not get an extra £10 off this...this is a vip price. Also the £10 off voucher is for instore prices only, this is more expensive instore so you may need to use it on soemthing else.

Agreed. The amount of times I have tried to get something from them is getting tedious now. They have 1 in stock somewhere like the Outer Hebrides and just whip up the excitement to get people in the door.

Good luck to anyone who gets it.

I agree with msharif911. Ive never once found any of these offers in the Stoke-on-Trent branch.

This deal and many others on here RS are regular stock lines...the best offers tend to be clearance models with low stock levels but if you call the local store they will tell you if they have stock and they will reseve them for you over the phone to go and collect. If it is a regular line they can also order them if they do not have stock instore.....

Seriously if this was a one off instore asda or tesco special someone got in Ramsbottom or somewhere it would be super hot.......I am NOT RS biggest fan but they have soem super deals and stock check is a phone call....you don't to have trawl from store to store.

I've played all my MKV's on this player via burning them on to a DL disk, and I've formatted a pen drive to NTFS and played some standard def files off of it. I haven't tried doing them both at the same time (reading a 4gb+ MKV file from an NTFS formatted drive, but I assume it will work)

Also be aware that this player wont pass DTS though HDMI to you receiver, you have to use the coax digital out to you receiver to get surround sound via DTS (it works fine with Dolby digital)

A great player for the price if it reads 4gb+ files from an NTFS formatted drive.

agreed & agreed. I never buy LG (personal preference) but that doesn't stop me posting LG AV deals coz I've got friends who've bought LG stuff and are happy; but obviously not all people subscribe to this view.

I don't mind cold votes - as long as the voters help others by saying why it's cold.

Once this unit has been made region free if I do a firmware update does it remain region free?

I would like to know this too.

Also, this makes it multiregion for DVDs only right - not for BluRay?

But it can't be made multiregion.
