Just come back from HMV Oxford Street and picked one of these up amongst some other bargains already posted on here. Actually stickered £49.99 reduced from £159.99, but scanned at £39.99, which is what I paid. They had a couple of these left. They also had the 2500 and another model with 3 Top Gear BD's and another bundled one with films. The other models may also be reduced further.

Even the staff didn't know it was further reduced. Perfect present for the folks. Stunning price when you consider the BD's you get with it.

Blu Ray player actually looks gorgeous with a silver front and has 1080p,HDMI,24fps,Dolby TrueHD 7.1,Profile 2.0 etc.

Might be best to call your local HMV's before travelling.

Please note this is an INSTORE DEAL only.

EDIT: Have amended the price to £49.99 as it looks like I got lucky!

This isn't the best Blu-Ray Player by any stretch but hell £40 and then bundled Blu-Rays oO

If only my local HMV did offers like this, they are crap even Nationwide offers they rarely participate in!!!

The girl at the checkout looked it up on the computer to confirm and said it was £49.99 - the same blu-ray player on its own without the blu-rays was £39.99 apparently
#9
guys can anyone confirm that this one has wireless connection? it states - Network connections: Wi-Fi Ready (802.11 g/n)* but im just wandering wether this means the player has built in wireless or does it need the dongle from the tv to connect? cheers

Wireless ready means you will need a usb adaptor http://shop.philips.co.uk/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&Locale=en_GB&SiteID=rpeeub2c&productID=201732000

Still need to connect to the tv with a hdmi cable, wireless is for internet access.

Actually - it is kind of illegal. The shop doesn't have to sell you it at the advertised price as there is no contract, however the the shop can be prosecuted and fined for giving a misleading price indication.

Email their CS. I did, after I bought a game in store that was £13 in the sale, but when I removed the sale sticker it was £11, so cheaper before the sale!! They called me back a few days later to process a refund.

Under which law?

Under the customer-is-always-right law.
With that bundle it's still quite a nice deal though at £49.99.

Never saw this deal instore. Just returned from HMV in Sheffield Meadowhall. The price was £70 which was reduced from a higher figure, and not priced at £50.

Cracking deal if its really available

Wow, that is a brilliant deal.

Under sale of goods stores cannot knowingly advertise one price and sell at another (higher) price - so if 1 person goes in and its priced at £40 but store realise it should be £50, it's ok for them to explain the mistake and charge the higher price- but the store is then are on notice and must correct the mistake - so any goods marked at the lower price have to be changed (ie stickers updated etc) - if they don't do this and carry on trying to charge the higher price, THEN its against the law. (from what some ppl are saying though its already marked at the higher price, but scanning lower, so HMV - unfortunately - are entitled to charge the higher price) - still a good deal either way IMHO :) - hope that long winded explanation makes sense! ;)

While I appriciate the explantion, I already know this and I wasn't asking you. The point I was trying to make was the person that stated this was illegal was wrong and I was trying to get them to try and state a law to try and back themselves up, or to show they were wrong.
#23
They didn't have any of these in Swindon.

They did however have the 3100 with 3 Top Gear Blu Rays for £59. Nearly got it, but decided I'd save up for something with I-Player and media streaming.
#24
Just the 3100 and Top Gear for £59.99 at Newcastle HMV.
#25
I would buy it just for blu rays, philips make the worst dvd/blu-ray players ever, so slow you make a cup of coffee and menu still won't load, 39.99 is good for just blu-rays if you can sell this dreadful blu-ray player.

Purchased last one in HMV Bristol for 49.99 - bargain with the blu-rays included.
#27
Asked about these today- none in any Birmingham Store.
They did have the Top Gear ones (BDP3100 with 3 x Top Gear Blu-rays) for £59.99
#28
HMV are finished, Philips are a poor Blu-ray manufacturer and the format as a whole is overpriced rubbish!
#29
got this for 49.99 in croydon at 430pm. still had 8 left, and around 6 of the top gear version

off to see what cex will pay for the discs
#30
Guess you've never watched a blockbuster film on Bluray on a quality home cinema set-up then.

I bought it before and it doesn't have WiFi that's a mistake, it can stream movies and stuff so long as they are not MKV, H264 it can do DivxHD at the price its a steal the player alone is around £100 without the movies. The biggest selling point is that it can do multi regonal Bluray so long as you dont upgrade the firmware because there's a update. The web portal is utter **** aswell but you dont buy it for that.

This one doesnt its on way faster than my Gran's Samsung and my other LG and as for being rubbish i wouldnt agree with that some of the best electronics in the world are made by Philips, it seems to me some people would complain if they where giving them away.

Not true, the picture quality on Philips machines is amongst the best available.

I have used Sharp, Sony, Philips and Pioneer machines and subjectively the Philips to me gives the best overall video quality.

Perhaps they may have other minor issues, but video performance is not one of them.

Thanks OP. I popped to Westfields to get one (they have a few more) and it was marked as £79.99. Took it to the till and it went through as £49.99. Had a voucher I'd needed to use for a while and wanted a BR player for the bedroom, so I'm happy.

It looks quite clear to me, if you take off the promo sleeve, it would go through at the reduced rate - the price for the player minus the BR's.

HMV are going downhill at an alarming rate.
As to your other point.

Really?

I cannot find out how to do that on the web. I can get the DVD player to be multi-region but not the BR part.

If the picture is digital, then how can one blue ray player be better than the next? I know that might be dumb but seriously how?
