Was stickered up for £159.99 but on offer for £109.99. I saw this instore at the Tunbridge Wells store. The price is £159.99 online.

Not sure how good the Blu Ray player is, but it seems a decent deal, considering the 3 BBC titles that are included. Not sure if this is store specific or nationwide. Also, apologies if this has already been posted.

this or the sony db370?
No idea when you compare the quality of images and sound in the 2 players, but one advantage of the BDP5100 appears to be that it has built in Wireless N connectivity.

Maybe someone out there has the BDP5100 and can let us know if its any good - I know loads of people have already invested in the BDP-S370 recently due to the low prices on Amazon (and its a fantastic machine for the price)
Are you sure it has Wireless built in? According to this pdf, it's ready for Wireless but requires an optional usb dongle. Might be worth checking if it's a deal breaker. If it has wifi then I'd say it's definitely a hot deal, without wifi then it's still pretty good if you want the Blu-rays it comes with.

Just checked Philips website, and it does indeed need a usb dongle for wifi, still a hot deal IF you want the free discs though.

you may be says built in wifi but it seems a bit ambiguous.
I know, a lot of them from various manufacturers like to call them "wifi ready", which seems to mean that you have to spend another £50 or so to get wifi capabilities. My Samsung one is the same.
There is one left in Perth HMV
hmv have this online at 50 quid.

seems a steal

if you search for the player alone its 49.99, the blu rays can be had for cheaper seperately so this is not that much of a good deal!

Thats weird, just posted that one as a new deal - hadnt even read this thread, was just searching HMV after looking at the DAB radio posted earlier.
yes 50, well as paz2k6 points out, £49.99 for the player alone.

Going off the other prices for this player with or without the 3 dvd bundle (which can be had cheaper than the 60quid difference in prioce if bought seperately) then i think £50 for this player is a steal.

online at hmv, sorry don't have the link and apologies for not clarifying the 50 quid deal excluded the dvd bundle.
online at hmv comes up with £110 offer (inc dvds), or £150 for stand alone player for me
This bundle has now been reduced to £109.99 online. The £50 deal has expired.
I had the bdp3000 - in the same range, looks the same as this one. It had a lot of problems with the firmware even after upgrading to the latest firmware. 1 in every 4 times I turned it on - it would hang/freeze, requiring to be turned off and on again at the plug to bring it back to life. Even when it did work it was slow to load discs and had pretty basic/awkward menus. No idea what the bdp5000 is like - but after my experience I'll be avoiding that range and possibly any bluray players made by philips
the £50 deal actually included the three blu ray disks believe it or not.

feel sorry for those who paid £110.
